Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
I have one out of context query please reply!
I have given two mains including this year but without any substantial answer writing practice ,I am thinking to follow secure initiative as I do not want to spend 18-20 thousands on test series but I live in a small town and have never taken coaching or get my answers evaluated but few days back I came across with this website named iasnetwork on this platform it is claiming to evaluate answer at nominal cost kindly please advise is it appropriate or not?

Mujhe to aap coaching wale hi lag rahe ho ....jo apni hi evaluation ki dukan ko run karne ke liye ye msg likha hai with hidden plot or story.
If i am wrong. ....msg me privately in forum. ...I will help you to write quality answers in mains without Nominal fees ( I did the same religiously, daily, for four years without spending a single penny )

How about we all stop thinking so much about results and rather profess what we feel our result will be...
Post result, those selected will give very vague suggestions and "tips" which are mostly useless. I genuinely opine that Those who have given the exam and either are feeling their name should be on the list or vice-versa, should come forward and share their two cents, untill their words have credibility.
It's not about bragging/exuding hopelessness but rather being true to oneself and every aspirant.
some people find meaning in everything that happens around. like if upsc is maintaining uncertainty on result date, then it must be to test our patience.
the same people would also explain any misfortune as bad karma from previous births.
can't we just agree that some things are just absurd? that they don't have any explanation. that they must not be explained, or else, they become meaningful, which they weren't really. they happen because they happen. they have no preceding cause.
like the upsc result date... they don't announce the result date beforehand because they don't announce it. it's just their whim.

@mishra7597shivani373hey, I did joined iasnetwork evaluation for this year mains.
Pros: Timely evaluation, no limit on number of answers or essays.
Cons : feedback short & sometimes done in hurry.
I submitted few essays and answers. Overall okayish. Affordable and sometimes really good suggestions.
Op- you can join. It brings discipline of writing daily. But also focus on self evaluation. You can opt out after month or two.

@SelinaKylewe all know that in this exam it’s next to impossible to predict one’s own success. Also, an unsuccessful candidate’s tips might be more useful than those of a successful one, but would hold no importance because they couldn’t clear due to some reason. Imo, at most one may predict their failure but not their success..
@DKTdo not assume anything I have come across with this platform through this thread only when somebody had posted mains model answer and everyone was praising it and I have been a passive member of forum for nearly two year ,just wanted a genuine advise since I am hopeless about this year result and wanted to follow insights secure ,I saw on the website that they check copy according to person's source ,and there was no limit on questions so I just wanted to make sure that there is n't anything dubious about it before spending my hard earned money
@MadamSir aspirants can find meaning in anything. in prelims exam they will put emphasis on smart study. read selectively. if questions come from these materials, then it is called by them as "smart study". if questions r out of these selective materials then "U" in UPSC is called unpredictability.
People can find meaning in all the questions. just read comment section below questions papers at insight. they will give links of some newspaper to show how these questions were in news. newspaper ranges from hindu to express to down2earth to al-zajeera.
if upsc is delaying result then they r checking patience of candidate. in service such qualities r needed.
mtlb upsc kuch bhi kare uska bohot deep meanong log nikal lenge. Pre ka paper random bna denge toh woh isliye krte h kyuki service m randomness se deal krna hota h. mtlb kuch bhi...
bhai woh log sarkari karmchari hain. cse jaise 20 aur exam conduct krna hota h. hmare liye result day special hoga. unke loye normal day h. isliye stop making meaning out of their each action.

@missionmangalAt no point, I said "those who are sure of getting through". But my only intention is to hear honest opinions of one's preparation and efforts. Post result, asking someone's "strategy" and "how he did it" is trash, its the thoughts of this time that are most valuable.
All I am asking people is to reflect now on how was your prep and exam.. and those who'll say they nailed it and get selected will have credibility, even those who won't..... but those must not be trusted who'll now say their exam went bad but get selected, because they have no idea. And they will in their toppers talk say, "If I can do it, so can you. I did nothing, but solved test series of 2-3 coaching and got through."
@mishra7597shivani373Better be monthly. Check its feasibility as per your need. It may work wonders or may little. Sir is cordial in his approach. ( I paid only for one month and he checked my copies thereafter also). But i already done well previously in gs so basic writing skills were with me. So minor improvements did happen.
