[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@MarcusFenix yes but in chemical fertilisers only urea price is controlled by govt, other chemical fertilisers retail price is market driven.
in question statement is ----At present, the retail price of chemical fertilizers is market -driven and not administered by the Government.
if seen generally this statement is correct.
If I say opposite of this---- the retail price of chemical fertilizers is NOT market -driven and administered by the Government ----this would be staitaway wrong

Yeah... That's why I eliminated that option... And got super confused... Now I think, I should have left that question.

@Daarubaaj sahi baat hai sab yaha apna ullu seedha karne me jude huye hai. Jisko nikalna hai woh laga hua padhai ke morche pe naaki dusron ko gyan dene me. Sab apne aap senior apsirant, bahut bada top samajne lage huye hai. Jitna maata pitna hai peetlo jo hoga wahi hoga naaki ek dusre se ladai karne me. Agar kisi ko lag raha hai uska sahi hai to jaake mains ke liye ragdo naaki baith kar yaha auron ko confuse karo .

@Equalizer Your Choose option B is correct Because it's common sense itself after reading that

IMO the passage was emphasising that risk is inevitable in wealth creation and we as a society is very particular about risk. But it's only IMO. ITS subjective question, nobody can be sure.

@walterwhit3 u have presented cogent arguments.
And u have emphasised on the fact that upsc is the final authority, even though you have given certain facts.
That should be be the ideal attitude of people on this platform- meant for civil services aspirants, unlike others who behave so rigidly and are here mostly to prove their answers as the absolute truth. If they are so confident then they should be hitting hard at mains preparation.Seriously I dont know why people are wasting their time and energy in proving others wrong instead of slogging to ensure their interview call at the Dholpur house.

@Mahi No sir It Talks About All the fears of All risks which puts Hole on your Money will Not happen at same time, so it means You should not think that after you are investing 1 Lakh , A apocalype meteor will hit and Your money gone...So Last line essence is Risk is part of Calculation of investment so if it is inevitable factor  You should Not Overthink all Negative factors which damages the investment and u can proceed with Investment.. but in Option A Distribution will Minimize Risks is Given...How Can Minimization Suggestion or Implied by author, He talks in all passage about Risk Taking behavior

@JSK28 i dunno someone has asked the same question on twitter to the original author of the passage and he says A should be right and he is the author-one who has actually written the article on times of india -and if he says A i think he should be right nor anyone else. He is an expert and upsc is using relying on his article , so there should something in what author says n i would only agree with what author says nor any one else. However it wud be unfortunate if upsc doesnt agree with A .

@Challenger_Deep 99% sure that answer will be 1, 2 and 3. Non financial debt will be the debt held at any point of time by the non financial sector. I did Mark it wrong.
Fertigation question also I checked the answer given by the keys is correct. The world 'all' in 2nd statement makes it incorrect.
Sent representation for Aadhaar question. I have no doubt that the question is incorrect. But have less hope that UPSC will take the representation seriously.
AI question can go either way.
My score is 96.6. So in all probability my fate depends on AI Wala question.
Will now leave this thread to prepare for mains with full zeal. Thank u all

@Badluram Thanks, brother. I wrote that long ass comment, just to point out certain facts and the ambiguity of the question. Even though I marked D, I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that UPSC wanted us to answer B.

Anyone who is above 95 or 96, barring one or two controversial questions, should ideally be studying. Even after this much discussion, if people can't accept certain basics, want Desher Katha to be Bengal Specific, Rukhma Bai case to cover all the issues, and everything under the sun that they have marked to be true, more power to them.

If anyone is a fan of quotes then here is one from Voltaire, that ideally suits the situation of 90% of the people scoring above 95 but below 102.

"Doubt is an uncomfortable situation, but certainty is a ridiculous one

Good luck with mains prep everyone.

U r absolutely correct .It was even given in the passage that people prefer to keep money idle, unproductive but safe. This should logically lead to option B .But cruel upsc will go by source passage it was the trend u can check last yr passages for your confirmation.Trend may not be followed.I just explained the source.I have given representation on this to take considerate opinion.

@Mahi  in my opinion no matter what anybody says one should always go by one's own logical reasoning. And inspite of the fact that I have marked a different option I would really hope that upsc should give answer only based on logical reasoning and just- answer to the question asked and not based on any other factors.Only then it can uphold objectivity. And to justify ur reasoning based on logic and objectivity u have gone to the extent of representing ur viewpoint , I truly admire and support such persons. Way to go ! May only objectivity prevail.

I kept option B .I asked them to rely on standalone passage rather than source of question which was the trend. But we get to see key only after a year.No one really cares our opinions.U know!

My case is almost identical.
Non financial debt 3 only
AI- 1, 3 and 4
Minister- A only
Preamble - A
Attempted legal authority one too, 1 and 4
94 marks after assuming all the above to be wrong.

🤞🤞🤞
