Mains 2021 Result declared - In or Out?

Even if an reserved candidate clear all stages with general cutoff and get rank in 60s or 70s, they still opt for reserved seat rather than UR for cadre preferences. This is a conscious choice by reserved candidate for cadre.

This is the reason that most of candidates in reserved list issued by UPSC after an year belong to generals. So don’t worry UR seats are not eaten up.

And actually this year, total vacancies are 712 i guess. UR vacancies will be around 285.
To clear mains itself he should be in top 712 out of 9000 odd candidates in mains. (considering they call in 1: 2.5 ratio)😂.

Thinking that itself is kind of scary..

just out of curiosity i checked last UR IAS 2020
its rank 78 with general category in service allocation pdf i retrieved from a website.
in the marks allocation the the rank 78 is OBC.
my doubt is: has the OBC candidate taken UR seat?
im confused here
ive checked some toppers of categories other than ur as well in both lists. the category mentioned has not changed in both lists. is it just an error?

Bro in competition plz dont talk in terms of numbers. It will always seem impossible. 10 lakh candidates and just 72 IAS (for ur it means rank in top 72). Should we even prepare for such a competition?

Better think in terms of marks. If one got 790 last year. Think wat needs to b done to get 836. Then competition will become bit doable
