How was your paper? How did you approach the paper?
@D503 Covid ka impact kuch ayega ya nhi cutoff me? sb to bimar pde the
nope....
all candidates looked fit n fine to me at the bangalore centre...
I was the only guy coughing sometimes in my classroom.. and was afraid that i might be kicked out on the ground that i might be one of the covid spreader at the center...
I too fell sick though.. 2 days fever.. fortunately between gs and optional papers...
corona kya cheez h
Earlier in 90 minutes (1.30hr) This year 105 minutes(1.45hr). Last year score was 98
Thats cool.. u managed the time well i would say...
I messed up big time by doing 1 case study and 2 part A answers..in that sequence.. Could not gauge the time properly...
Ended up writing last case study and few part A answers in haste..... i would feel glad if i get in 80s ...
@Declared_Dead Same here. Lost two days completely, in between the gs and optional papers, due to severe headache and cold (wasted some five days during the days just before the essay paper too, thinking that it will get postponed😅 heck, even chipped in to get that PIL moving😑).
Bro u would have lost one day anyway. 5 paper lagataar dena mazak thode hi hota hai. 0.5 day bekaar jata hai mind ko prepare krne main k abhi optionap baaki hai. So feel sad for just 0.5 day.
@zombieland GS 4 was indeed lengthy. there were subsections in case studies. i took more than usual time in them. my way of answering is also different.GS 3 is toughest because of surprisingly high number of unknown questionsGS2 i found tough, but not as tough as gs 3i rate gs 1 below gs 2 because i could answer those questions of world geo by fulfilling demand, then again ill have to see the paper. but the shock value was very high in gs 1. questions of history seemed simple to merest anthro: my practise was less. only 4 mocks. im not a big fan of beautifying answers and fooling the examiner when i dont know the exact answer.this has reflected in all papers of mine wherein i dont feel like writing 10-15 points in 15 marker and 7-8 points in 10 marker thus irritating the examiner. this however i did do in mocks where questions asked actually lead you to answer that. not saying that is bad but upsc isnt demanding that.same for anthro. no need for structuring apart from IBC. the relevant points will be awarded.
In optional one can afford to leave questions if he has no idea. Also the time saved can be used in other questions and is also directly reflected in marks. But this is valid only for 1-2 questions.
Aapka Anthro paper 2 kaisa hua...what's your assessment as compared to last year. Leaving behind compulsory question(10marker), how do you see other questions.

That was something, me too thought It might get postponed esp on the final day of argument before essay paper, i was reading the arguments on livelaw and thinking it might get Postponed. Wasted a total of 5-6 hours that day, despite knowing postpone was very unlikely.

Aapka Anthro paper 2 kaisa hua...what's your assessment as compared to last year. Leaving behind compulsory question(10marker), how do you see other questions.
Compulsory questions were difficult. Writing on dominant caste or sanskritization and getting good marks is much easier than writing on multiculateralism or rural politics.
Rest questions were conventional nd doable. So i will consider paper tougher than last year as this year one can write relevant answers in compulsory questions bt he will get good marks or not that is not sure.
anthro paper can be called tougher than last year for following reasons, and this is solely my analysis:
- after seeing natufian culture, jane goodall, ks singh, vn misra. now these questions, if one doesnt know which would be the case in atleast half of them, a person would most likely leave them. he would thus save 20 mins of time. 20mins of time is no joke if other answers are to reach a stage of perfection.
- for 2021 paper, this situation i.e shock value was less. but here is the deal, neither would you leave them nor would you write them. so you basically average out in the whole paper.
- another thing to notice is: paper 2 2020 has following 10 markers: rb foote, aryan invasion,ks singh, dravidian lang, khap, ssanskitisation, narmada man, linguistic minorites in india, concept of ethnicity.
now compare these 10 questions to2021 paper 2 10 questions. purushartha and living,tc relevance, harappan seals, caste and social capital, factionalism and politics, urbanisn and tribal insttns, concept of tribe and census, politics of recognition and deprovation
koi baccha bhi bata dega ki : paper 2 2021 ka sirf is baat se hi 2020 se zaada tough ho gaya kyuki
- 10 marker ne toh band bajadi
-10 marker ne ek aur kaam kia: it took time to understand them and demand is also blurry. ex: caste and social capital ko maine galat interpret kia ya nai , ye toh koi ciaching wale nai bata pa rahe. factionalism, deprivation ke toh kya hi kehne
toh ye paper 2 toh tough(er) hi tha
@Declared_Dead question on population education as well was tough
Phele mujhe laga ki 'population control' par hai..maine ek do point likhe...fir mujhe laga ki 'educating the population' par bhi likh deta hun. isme maine sdgs ki education par focus kar 4-5 point aur jod diye
