Three Union Govt schemes (launched 25th June 2015)

AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation):

  • Providing basic infrastructure and sanitation
  • Focus on water supply and sewerage
  • Promotion of public transport
  • Areas for walking and cycling, & greenery and open spaces
  • Reforms in urban governance
  • Capacity building

Housing for All (urban areas):

  • New house for 2 crore poor urban households
  • Central assistance ranging from 1 lakh to 2.3 lakh per house
  • Slum-free cities
  • Houses to be in the name of the woman, or jointly with the husband

Smart Cities Mission:

  • Development of core infrastructure
  • Smart solutions for better services
  • Enhanced quality of living
  • Inclusive economic growth
  • Promotion of clean and sustainable environment
  • Selection of cities (to be eligible for this scheme) through competition

    What is the difference between AMRUT and JNNURM? Is Amrut a CSS? What is the share of states in spending? Does the implementation lie with center or states?
