abhyas 3 was a little more up than sim x

 Can you tell marks needed in Abhyas 2 for 98 percentile?

@crikeymate yes , it was .

I had registered for the test, and now I'm getting an error stating "No user found". Called them and told them, and they blamed me instead. This seems like a total scam. Did anyone else manage to take the test?

Oh wow, I got a call now stating that the issue with my account was resolved. Thanks to the team. I really appreciate your efforts.

hello people

the cut off marks shown by forum ias for all simulator exams have been 95 to 105 marks. Are these tests so easy that cut off marks are getting so high. I request people to kindly give their inputs

I do not think they are very easy, they are just about as tough as the actual exam, with a +/- 5 to 7 marks variation. I met a lot of people here online who said they were scroing 140+ , but last week I met 4 candidates - all of them IFoS Interview appearing as well as appeared for IFoS interview last year.

They shared their scores which was in the range of 95-105 to about 115 - which is something they also scored in the actual exam ( I know them for like 2-3 years now ).

But yes writing a mock test at home is very different from writing it at the exam center and writing it in UPSC. You do have a drop in performance when its the actual exam.

Wondering if it's only me or if there are others who feel answers to Q67 and 74 require a relook from FIAS faculty. Q67 doesn't matter much but Q74 is a probable one for this year's Prelims. Sharing my obs here:

In Q74, I am of the opinion that Large hydro does not constitute Renewable Energy as the answer seems to suggest. In fact, in one of the UPSC Prelims papers' from '18/'19 it was implicitly asked if large hydro does actually constitute renewable energy or not. This was a question around our INDCs. &UPSC did not consider it Renewable as far as I remember. Even this year's Economic survey includes two graphs and a table that explicitly mentions large hydro as a separate component in our energy mix. It forms a part of non-fossil energy sources, agreed, but not renewable as far as I understand. Would appreciate it if somebody can clarify this. Seems to be relevant for this year's pre.

In 67, I feel the answer should be D. While it's true that yeast is added to let the dough rise, it shouldn't discard the use of bacteria. In fact, bacteria are actually used in the preparation of a lot of specialty bread preparations, just like cheese. Can also be fact-checked with a quick google search. Also as a side logic, one may see the use of bacteria to aid gut digestion.

Thanks.

@AzadHindFauz  can you look into this question and see if there is something wrongly interpreted? Will be very helpful.

@BhaveshJaglan yes large hydro is not renewable .Thats why government use non fossil in its commitment .It helps in including large hydro in calculation.

For Q74, there was a change in policy in 2019 (https://pib.gov.in/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=1567817)

Large Hydro is now considered as part of the Renewable Energy sector.

I don't know if this policy has been reversed. But I haven't come across anything indicating that.

For Q67, I agree with you. Even I'd marked the same.

Precisely.

There was an uproar that how the govt is changing classification criteria to meet renewable targets. And many editorials.

@crikeymate hello..
I am a student of vajiram and I have attempted both Abhyas and Simulator tests. I would be very frank with my review of abhyas tests and simulator tests because I do not have any formal association with either of the coachings(Vision and Forum IAS). What i found is that questions asked in abhyas tests are more relevant to the current tresnd of UPSC. The simulator tests have made some of the very unnecessary questions which will never be tested by UPSC. Some question were picked from the news clippings of 2013, 2014 and 2015, which is completely bogus in my view. Just to make their tests look tougher to candidates, the have added unnecessary questions. Practice Abhyas of vision. You will get real picture of your preparation. Thanks in advance. All the best

@prashantrocks04403 I scored 47, 62, 58 in last year's Abhyaas but went on to score 100+ in UPSC Prelims in 2020 & 2021. Agreed that Simulator X was out of league this year but most of the Simulators were on the lines of UPSC previous year papers.

Option A is most reliable option as other options contains CR (Critical endangered ) species but "Fishing Cat" IUCN status was updated last year, correction for this is uploaded on website article news too.

Wikipedia still have "Vu" as status
