CSE 2021: Plan / Strategy / Daily Routine

Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.

This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.

No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

Hey guys, how are managing your excercise and meditation these days?

And how do you shift and  plan to continue these things during intense preparation stage.

I go out for a walk for an hour or so but it breaks the momentum somehow.

So any suggestions?

We can't study continuously. I personally adjust my exercise/walk schedule in such a way that my breaks are the time that I devote exclusively for these things.
Foe example after studying for many hours during the day, when I need a break, I go for an evening walk rather than spending my break on other not so productive things...
That way I am able to stay in the rhythm as well.
And if you think that walking is breaking your momentum, maybe you can listen to some news while walking or try to recall what all you learnt during the day .. (HOWEVER, I WOULD PERSONALLY NOT DO THIS, BECAUSE BREAKS ARE CALLED BREAKS FOR A REASON,, ENJOY YOUR BREAKS).

I have been not able to give my best since last few week hence I am trying out to publicly post my targets from today.

Target: 12 hours of studies

Minimum: 10 hours

1. PT 365- polity

2. AW 1 optional, 2 GS

Action on last target:

Time: 9.5 hours

Completed PT 365 Polity, AW 1 Optional. Missed 2 GS AW

Today’s target:

Time: min 10 hours, target 12 hours

Revise constitution and polity notes

Action on last target:

Time: 10 hours,

Revised Polity, AW Option, AW GS from InsightsonIndia

Today’s Target:

Time: 10-12 hours.

Polity, AW optional + Insights

Faltered badly from my target. Need to remember Umberto Eco’s ‘fill the interstices’ idea, shouldn’t have wasted too much time in breaks.

Could put only 7 hours and missed on my target to complete polity. Will try to finish it today.

Target: 10-12 hours, Polity finish it, AW optional + GS

What a game! What a game! Long read ahead.

Finally Our stint at Olympics ends, and this has been by far the best olympics we have seen. Indians got introduced to so many new games, we saw Discus throw, Javelin throw, Golf, hockey, table tennis, wrestling and what not. Indian woke up at 5:30 to see those matches. All were cheering for these players.

And the gains we made in the games are immense and this would definitely change the sporting environment.

1. Aditi Ashok, she is ranked 200th but missed a medal by a whisker, ranked 4th. Immensely proud.

2. Neeraj chopra, gold, ranked 1 all throughout, what a performance.

3. Kamalpreet kaur , discus throw ranked 6th , missed closely, if the conditions would have been right she would have scored too.

4. Our women's hockey team, reached semifinals, missed bronze by a goal. What more we could have asked. They played like warriors.

5. Men's hockey team - bronze, last game was worth watching, josh was high in our players from 1-3 to 5-4. What a game.

6. Ravi Dahiya, Bajrang Punia and Deepak punia- what a game. Ravi dahiya was phenomenal. BP showed a game can't break the players, the heroes. He came back so strongly in the bronze medal match. DP had his first olympics, lost by some points. We could have another medal.

7. PV sindhu- Kya hi kehna. She is a true superstar. Second olympics medal and more to come. She is the star, such grit and perseverence.

8. Lovlina Borghain - first olympics and bronze. Deserves a bow.

9. M. Chanu : Wonders! What a show of strength.

We had some missed chances like Mary Kom, Manika Batra and the shooting contingent, Dutte Chand and all. But they all played so well. We missed some medals just by whisker. Can't be more happy. Congratulations to all of us.

I want us to get better day by day. I hope this atleast shifts our attention from cricket and we start giving their due to these players. I really have started not hating but very difficult to accept the god-like treatment to our cricketers as if this is the only sport in the world. We really need to shift our attention to these sports. These players are gems! I wish we can see them all in the next olympics.

One thing that always astounds me is if in the moments of greatness that we witness, do things really change or do they remain the same? Bindra, Saina and Sindhu's medals started a process that has made us come here today. Now we have the JSW group, NGOs, TOPS scheme that help our athletes. That has made us come further in our sports journey.

The achievements of this Tokyo 2020 similarly seem to be a big moment to me specially considering how many of our athletes competed and came close to winning medals just like@sstarrr mentioned. I really hope that this is indeed a white swan event that heralds many more medals, athletes and support structures.

Congratulations everyone. We all deserve to take a little time today, read about the journeys of these heroes and get set for our own medals, our own trophies. Prelims is coming, I am sure we will all pick up pace from this Monday and give our best, just like our olympians did.

I'm sorry, there are just too many feelings.

@sstarrr I agree completely and I’m the same, I don’t follow cricket but make it a point to follow other sports. No hate but I’d just like other sports to also get greater focus and generate more audience.

It ain’t much but it’s honest work

Well I have been those cricket fans, I watch cricket a lot. But this was my moment of reconsidering my choices. The joy I have felt in these days actually made me understand where we all are wrong.

I have a big big issue with the whopping amount our cricketers get. Our other players don't even get the same recognition, same pay and same endorsements. We never felt the need to give a District Collector job to Virat Kohli, because he gets so much more money. This is the problem with our sporting culture.

What these players did deserve much more accolades, because they did when they had shortage of infrastructure, coaches, trainers and other stuff and they all belong to the humble background. Kamalpreet did not have a coach at Olympics and see what she did.

I am very happy and very sad as well to know and to realise this would all be of very short time. We will forget this all and then again move back to cricket and treat them at godly players forgetting these gems. I understand the hardwork cricket players put in but all players put in and all the players should get thier due.

I think we all should collectively support these games from now on to actually perform much better in the coming games and make our players proud of playing for our country.

@sstarrr I remember when I was reading about Amiya Mallick (his story is very inspirational, do give it a read if you haven’t), he mentioned in one of his interviews that he once went to visit an Indian athlete who had competed at the 1st Asian games. His house was a mud thatched one and the stand out souvenir was the red Indian blazer. Not in a condition to be worn but just enough to show the Indian emblem.

Our history with sports has been very shoddy but people have finally woken up I feel. Now with several competitive leagues coming up in various sports, I just might dare calling India the rising sun in sports. It’s been a dream since a long time and I just hope I can play a role in this development.

I’d be careful in the future because we might see quite a few sticks flying around over our heads after today’s gold :D

Did waste whole of today. Only completed CA and Newspaper. All in all, not more than effective 2 hours. There is so much of guilt today. These Day 12 targets are up for tomorrow too.

Good night doston!

Decent day. Finished Hobbes,Newspaper and some parts of GS targets. Watched Tv for straight 4 hours between 4 and 8 pm and I am happy for utilising my time this way around. The performance by Neeraj Chopra and Bajrang Punia felt like a mutual success.

Also what a great end to Tokyo Olympics! The medal tally may only reflect 7 medals but this was one of those events which I feel will be sort of a breakthrough sporting event in Indian sporting history. So many unrecognised faces and sports got a recognition. Every single athlete had an inspiring story behind his/her rise. Also I feel so so bad about about Vinesh Phogat. She left the wrestling mat on a stretcher in Rio, fought back but luck had other plans for her in Tokyo. Maybe Paris will be her lucky spot.

This Javelin Throw Gold will inspire many(just like Bindra’s gold, Sushil Kumar’s Bronze and Saina’s Bronze did). I may be a bit biased  here but I feel the sports administration in India is moving in a right direction ever since former Olympics Silver Medallist Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore took over as Minister of Sports. We have miles to go and these Olympics were the first giant step.

Will update the schedule for tomorrow later.

Good morning Guys. Targets for 7/8/21

  • Finish National Parks revision
  • Ramsar sites in India
  • Active recall of History till PArtition of Bengal
  • Art and culture Current affairs
  • Agriculture and natural vegetation of India-Active recall
  • April CA MCQs atleast 30

Lets hope I am able to finish all this.
All the best to you all ....

Good day at The Olympics, but a very unsatisfactory day in my preparation.

Felt soo sleepy post lunch. Slept for 2 hours. I thought I'll study for late till night to cover my targets which were not undoable. I could easily do them. But, my eyes feel so heavy and I just want to sleep...  I really did not want to take a break. I have my birthday next week and I was hoping to take a break only on that day. Hence, the disappointment that I am not even able to give my best for just a few days, so that I am able to enjoy the break I deserve.

Turning 25 next week and the phase of EXISTENTIAL CRISIS has resurfaced. What have I done in these 25 years of my life? Did I ever think I would still be unemployed at the age of 25? Could it have been better?
I read somewhere that THE FIRST 25 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE IMPACT HOW YOUR NEXT 25 YEARS ARE GOING TO BE...
People have achieved so much in life at even younger ages than mine. And here I am , a privileged person (in my own sense), who just has to study and do nothing else. No ghar ka kaam, no boss ki jhik jhik, no marriage pressure..
Still I am feeling sleepy rn , despite the fact that I slept in the evening..
I clearly don't deserve these breaks..
Sorry for this nonsense rant..
Goodnight.

@sjerngal Talking about existential crisis, just now my brother threw the bomb at me. All my happiness due to olympics win vanished when he asked me what was Sindhu's age when she won at Rio. Reality resurfaced. Back on study table and would come only when all the targets gets finished.

Today wasn't productive study wise. I was tired throughout and just didn't feel like it so I'll take a break tomorrow.

Neeraj's victory was so beautiful! Made my day. :) More importantly, I'm sure this moment will inspire millions.

This Olympics has converted me to become a passionate sports fan across all disciplines. I wish we'll get to see India becoming a proper sports powerhouse within our lifetime.
