Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.
This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.
No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

Hello friends, it’s a new day, and as one of my favourite boys would say, “let’s get this bread”
14.6.21
World history
PSIR- organisations
Daily C/A
Righting with my right hand (EDIT: cant believe this serendipitous pun happened and I didn’t notice it)
AWP
That’s all, folks!
Most of the bread was got. Managed to do pretty much everything that I had planned for the day, except wasn’t able to complete PSIR notes as I thought. Got busy reading random articles on the net. Off to sleep have to get up early tomorrow for a walk :) goodnight peeps happy studying if anyone is still going strong
@MaeveWiley @DeekshitaP no app gonna work how much u try until someone develops a app for mind and heart or u yourself develops a greater willpower to resist (from personal experience)
True, I tried putting screen time but I used to shut it off and watch YouTube. Personally have got a massive control on what used to be an addiction for me these days.
Good morning gentle peepul,
Here we go for 14/06/2021
1. PSIR - Globalisation + AWP (3-4 hours)
2. GS 2 : Indian Constitution (3 -4 hours)
3. August CAs ( if time and energy permit)
4. Daily stuff
Have a good day, y'all! :)
A relatively calm day. Except for the August CAs, finished all the set targets on time. Too tired and lazy to type more.
Khair! Aaj ka seekha hua gyaan : utne ka hee sevan karein jitna chabaaya ja sake! :P
Take care you gentle peepul. :)
Completed all the targets ( getting better day by day )
And to all the comrades keep the josh high and remember these lines as written by Rashtrkavi Dinkar ji-
And salute to you all for your courage and enthusiasm
After dragging myself through the weekend without really being productive, here I am, again.
This week's targets -
1. Slot 4 and 5 in Socio
2. 2 months CA
3. Ethics PYQ
14/6
1. Start Slot 4
2. MCQs backlog
3. Daily Stuff
Kaafi manageable targets the so all done. Feeling really good.
I totally have to fix my sleep schedule now. No excuses.
Good job everyone. Look at y'all killing it!!
Hi all! Great to see the energy here.
I just got back from a 5 day break. I finally saw my grandparents and a few cousins after a long gap (3.5 years).
On the one hand, it felt super great to see them all after such a long time. I've never felt so loved before :P Also, it was the first time after Jan that I spent more than a couple of days not thinking about the preparation. I hope this refreshed mind pushes me on in the coming days.
On the other hand, in all that excitement, I hardly feel like studying now. So I'm purposefully writing down my targets here to feel some social pressure to complete them
Targets for tomorrow 1) calculus - differentiability 2) Current Affairs class 3) Newspaper (news items excluding editorials of previous 5 days) 4) Ethics 2 answers.
Is forest useful? Does it translate into actual study hours or is it cheatable?
Everything is cheatable. But I have managed to create some protocols for myself. Like, I usually work in 50 minute work sessions. But if I am a little distracted in that session, I usually work 15 more minutes after the session without counting it on forest. Sometimes, I am just too distracted, I just cancel the session & delete all the minutes that the app has recorded in the session. The idea is to constantly undercount. Slowly, you'll want to reduce this undercounting & will try to be more focussed. It works most of the times for me.
I just like to know the number of hours at the end. I used to use another app called "productivity challenger" for four-odd years. Worked wonders for me. But forest is just more flexible, more beautiful.
Here, I had written about some other traps that one may fall into when using such apps: https://forumias.com/post/detail/CSE-2021-Plan-Strategy-Daily-Routine-1602556617?JS1DNFctQzRgCmAK
Thank you for that, this was a really good read. I tried the pomodoro technique/ taking breaks after a 50 minute session and realised that it didn’t work for me. I’m more of a solid 3 hour session kind because I’ve realised more than a lack of concentration, I have massive inertia, so getting started is more difficult than sticking on, hence short breaks tend to be quite counterproductive. Through this exam process I’ve realised that I basically need to loophole my own loopholes, in a never-ending “outcheating my cheating” cycle.
I recently came across a book called “how to finish what you’ve started” (ironically, never finished that book) which spoke about creating protocols as well, which is the only piece of information that I managed to imbibe from that book
p.s it was a terrible book anyway

Good to see you back. It’s always great to see cousins and family. I saw mine this year after 3 years :)
