CSE 2021: Plan / Strategy / Daily Routine

Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.

This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.

No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

Moderator Update: This thread has crossed 1 million views and has thousands of comments slowing down the website. We are closing this and moving to the next thread

Quite match with your name :p

Vse aaj to m bhi 3 hours so liya tha

The test went bad ( didn't have mood but still gave half-hearted)

Haina! Mujhe kahin bhi neend aa jati hai aur kabhi bhi bhookh lag jaati hai. :P

Be that as it may. On a more serious note, I just wanted to take a decent break with minimum work with no guilt pangs of wasting an entire day, so kept it light! Aur koi nai, at times it's okay to keep it chill! :)

Weekly Round Up

A very unproductive week. First two days wasted on Covishield. Next Two days in sadness and the rest in sub-optimal productivity. The only good thing was that I stayed on track. I did not go into a sadness spiral or I did not take the path of least resistance. Whatever time I studied, I did what I planned at the beginning of the week.

Next 6 days, I'll be alone at home. Historically, this has meant a period of low productivity & binge eating. But I intend to prove history wrong. Next Sunday & Monday are reserved for my cousin's wedding. So, will try to be as productive as I can. Help me God.

Today was a chill day. Not much done. Not even what I had planned. It is okay. I slept in the noon. And spend some time with my mother. It's okay. I'll try to cover that up in the next 6 days.

Next 6 days plan is simple. Do not touch anything other than the following:

  • Ethics Classes & handouts
  • Environment Booklets; Study & Ankify
  • PSIR IIA Notes
  • Anki Reviews
  • Essay-I & II; lectures & handouts

On the side, I am listening to fear and loathing in new Jerusalem on the walks. One episode done, 5 more to go. Also began reading Yascha Mounk's 2018 book. 1 chapter done, everything else to be done.

--

I am going for a walk now & will listen to the podcast mentioned earlier.

--

At night, I intend to complete watching 'Well Done Abba' which has been@whatonly 's recommendation. Also, I would love to hear what are some of your favourite movies that you can recommend me to watch?@Villanelle @thesleepyhead @Rashmirathi @SergioRamos @DeekshitaP @ozymandias & @MaeveWiley & others active on this thread.

I'll try to watch one movie a week.

Sorry man, not big on movies. But if you want, EUROS are going on, watch one big game every week! :P

A good way to start watching football if you haven't. :)

Try finding sin(i) using this. Its mod will be greater than 1. You should use e^(imz) in f(z) itself.

Such a trivial thing! Kuch nhi ho sakta Dharna tera!

13 June

Feeling sleepy already, thanks to a loaded Sunday breakfast. On we go

  1. PSIR: Politics of representation and participation (3 hours)
  2. Write an essay (maybe)
  3. Daily to-dos

@Villanelle from where are u doing this politics of representation and participation topic? I don't think SR has this much content to take 3 hours.

Check out chapters 9 to 11 ofPolitics by Andrew Heywood (JustPolitics, notGlobal Politics). I haven’t had time to read properly yet but it does look promising after a first skimming.

I am looking at fifth edition (2019) here. Here, chapter 10, 11 & 12 look relevant.

Haan yes. I had the fourth edition.

Movie suggestions from my side would be - Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind and Requiem For a Dream. Also, Manorama Six Feet Under and That Girl in Yellow Boots.

I’ve seen the first two here. While Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind remains an easy favourite.

Requiem For a Dream…I watched this one too young probably (early teens) and it was one of the most disturbing movies I remember watching. I wish I had watched it later, because now when I think of it, all I get is -drugs bad

@Villanelle Requiem for a dream is very messed up. They drive the point home about drugs really really well :p Try the other two though, easily among the best in Hindi cinema

Tbf there's no age where watching RfD would not be just straight up devastating and emotionally scarring lol.

Plan for 13/06:

1. Incidentals

2. Ankifying Day 2/30

3. 7 booklets

Sticking with the quarters method. Works better than what I was doing. START BY 10! Locking my phone away tomorrow.

1. Sort of meh

2. Done

3. 4/7 booklets done

Day 1 of managing to resist Prime Video and Netflix woohoo! I'm just missing my targets most days. It's getting incrementally better but not fast enough. Probably because my targets aren't really in sync with what the day is looking like and when I actually manage to start.

Have been feeding off the enthusiasm on this thread over the past week. Have wasted a lot of time due to COVID infection and recovery. Time to get back on track.

Targets:

  • Finish PDE PYQ

  • Ethics Answer Writing

  • Newspaper

Starting slow, but hope to pick up the pace soon! Also need to get back to reading books instead of binging on Netflix!
