The Civils Mains result has been declared. This thread is for sharing your grief , joy , mixed feelings - absolutely anything and everything.
@farzicoder mentioned how rural people seem to be left behind in the vaccination drive. It sets the context for me to share something with you all. I would request all of you to watch the'Main Bhi Bharat' series on Tribes of India.I have spent the last few weeks reading about the tribes of India. I stumbled upon the series in the process. RSTV has done a great service to the nation by bringing these stories to us. There is a common theme to all the stories in the series- a stark contrast between India and Bharat! If not all the videos, watch the ones that talk about the tribes of your own state.
If you ask a personal recommendation, watch this one first-
@AzadHindFauz watched this episode. I am from MH but I didn't find tribe from MH.
After watching My first reaction was we are so privileged than these fellow citizens. Tharus are not included in PVTGs I guess. But every tribe in every state similar issue.I have seen in MH,though development has reached corner Basic services still yet to reach. Farzi doctors, moneylenders, suppression from forest officials , No electricity case of every remote village. I was happy to see those women telling issues so confidently. Though forest rights act passed, state governments have to pass it again in their states?
Also have to appreciate Shyam sunder reporter. kind of work expected from mainstream media now. I cant imagine plight of people hit by covid without any mistake of their own. We live in metros still we are fearful of beds, how they will be managing if covid penetrated there too
What are the probable roadblocks to door to door vaccination other than the supply crunch we are witnessing right now?
It reminds me about this episode, somewhere around this time, last year.

I don't think the situation will be this dire. People have now seen the true power of the virus. Fear will drive acceptance.

Yes, that’s true. But we have seen how fake news and rumour mongering hijacks rational mindset from working. People can become victim so eaily : (
What are the probable roadblocks to door to door vaccination other than the supply crunch we are witnessing right now?
1) Lack of sufficient healthcare workers (doctors and nurses) who can safely administer vaccines. Hospitals are lacking personnel to care for the patients, so sparing them for door to door vaccination would be difficult.
2) Even if we are able to set apart nurses for this, asking them to go door to door exposes them to COVID more than they would be exposed to in vaccination clinics (since ideally affected patients won't come for vaccinations but door to door visits would also include their homes as there is currently no way of knowing beforehand which homes are affected)
3) Portability of vaccines themselves can be a problem. I'm not aware of this but maybe vaccines need special storage containers for storage beyond a certain number of hours in the open. These containers themselves might be heavy and bulky.
One way to overcome this is having ambulances carry these vaccine containers. But given the paucity of ambulances for even genuine emergencies, that might be difficult.
4) In case arrangements can be made for storage and transportation, it would only increase the costs. The government would not like to do this especially when the economy is down.
5) This would also take more time than usual. In vaccination centres, once a patient is done, you can keep her for observation nearby and immediately move on to the next patient. This would be tough to do at homes.
Door-to-door vaccination would certainly be convenient for us as citizens but an impractical step for the government notwithstanding the supply constraints.
