I found this thread very responsible. This thread is for feelings also, so I am writing my pain here, even this thread wouldn't be, although I write here as I got a very intense pain by my youngest bravest and successful uncle's leaving this world due to an accident. I am very mournful. I got whatever in my life till now was due to him only as I could become a government official in a reputed institution of my country. How the employment of villagers could be provided by single person.
My uncle was very good and a benevolent person and he had done many good works in the society without fame. At the early age he started earning money through the nature and sand mining with the licence and thereafter he continuously worked hard and got a very fine status. He also helped many persons so is known as a helpful person by each and every person who came in contact with him in the society and the area of the persons who knows him are much bigger not only in my village which has a huge population about 10000 persons but also in entire vicinity of the village, also in some part of the district as he helped like marriages of the poor girls and provided direct cash to the needy persons also in the lockdown. He also started business at the very early age in the development works by getting tenders for the roads and for the markets. He himself also made a market in a local colony and he also provided money for the needy persons who couldn't earn even a single penny that is the nature of my family. He was backbone of my entire family. But on 28th May he was called by the God due to his nature, due to his work, due to his good deeds, due to his smart and smiling face. He is in our family's soul and in the person's heart who got help or who were along with him in his entire journey till the his age of 42 years. He always honoured of elders and provided psychological help to youngers. I think this post should be posted here as he was also responsible for beneficial of the society in his way in a local area. As an IAS officer does in his domain. I am also thinking of leaving the preparation of civil services as my responsibility is now to help my cousins also I wanted to become like him. Sorry for this post if it is not acceptable at this front.

Someone please help me decipher what this essay topic means?

"The idea of merit is like an elevator in a building that most people enter on the top floor."

@Steph_Curry Google the quote and you will find that it was Sandel criticizing the idea of meritocracy.

General assumption is that The elevator of merit = elevates people socially regardless of his social background, but what if most people taking this lift are already socially elevated and on the top floor? What about people not elevated and still living on the lower floors? They are not getting a chance to board the elevator of merit.

Sandel says indeed it is mostly people on the top floor who again get to board this elevator of merit.  Meritocracy is not resulting in upward social mobility of a majority of the society who actually need it.

This is what I understood after reading a couple of articles quoting Sandel.

I booked a vaccination slot for tomorrow for myself. But I don't remember if I booked it under the 18+ or 45+ category. Is there a way where I can see those details? My appointment details make no mention of it.

18+ mei hi hui hogi.

It is not possible for an 18+ to book a slot under 45+ . They don't allow it in the first place.

@sjerngal Thank you. I don't want to make an unnecessary trip if I can help it. Also I did not get a link to make payment for the vaccine. Is there no such provision?

They will see your reference ID, secret code and Photo ID card at the counter of vaccination centre and will then ask you to make the payment. No prepaid slot booking on COWIN portal as  of now.
