Shankar mock Qns sometimes have some confusing factual Qns coz the staff there have more bias to State PSC ,Ifos etc although they are improving ,so scores in such mocks cannot be considered a standard
If possible go ahead and try second mock ,the statement there are slightly better in comparison
Even though I got kicked out in the mains stage, last year when a lot of folks who were claiming to be getting 100+ said they were out, in spite of being on the clear as far as CSAT is concerned and the result was declared within just 19 days, I doubted the result but then forgot about it. Now again when a lot of folks are reiterating the same I am getting 2nd thoughts about whether UPSC even actually checked all the copies?! I mean it's possible the workers under extreme pressure to complete this entire process within 2 weeks(leaving out 5 days for transportation etc) might have just skipped few papers and tabulated those guys' marks' very close to the cut-off!
I just hope it's not true and unfortunately even if it is, wish that I be on the right side of it. Gives me jitters man!
They definitely checked all copies. We will be getting our marks. So if people didn’t clear it’s either they failed in CSAT or they didn’t get the cut off.
This is the thing I hate about UPSC
11 months after the prelims results, you still aren't sure why you weren't there in the list
marks, keys, cutoff for prelims should be released just after prelims result
don't want debate about why current process is there and all
This is the main problem with UPSC.
Why can't they just release prelims keys and marks after the exam just like state PSCs ? -_-
Its really very frustrating.
Hi, can we all share the important biology related terms (or even general Sci/Tech for that matter) that you think are relevant for the exam?
Eg DNA computing, pronuclear transfer, details of cloning, 5gi
I have a feeling they might ask about Cryptogams- angiosperms/gymnosperms etc. this year, because the first lichen park of India has been inaugurated recently.
@Shailputri also, in que 58, the word "merely" is enough to mark the statement wrong. Religion in India is not "merely" a private affair. There are way too many caveats involved.
Rest, I believe have been answered well by others.
And even I marked the Strait of Malacca que wrong..

Yes. Doubts resolved.
Often we casually say marriage, religion, family are private affair unless it lands up in court. I took that too seriously. Nothing is private in India it seems. Not even when we have freedom of conscience, faith and belief. :D
Malacca one...as Villanelle pointed out rightly...qn mentions "around the strait" and not "between".

Fun fact- even your car on the road comes under public place :p
Just keep this in mind if you end up fighting with policemen as car being your private space and can consume alcohol.
