Certainly the term is fixed upto CJI'S age, 65!

Yes, not the pm in strict sense. though take someone like the CAG! Simple point is the fact that if there's a provision which can remove you simply doesnt mean an authority doesnt have  a fixed term.

Is it just me or shankar's yesterday's test actually wasn't up to the mark?

It's correct. The answer will be none of the above.

Article 17 can be amended by the Parliament. There's no bar. In case of emergency, only 20,21 cannot be suspended in any case. The enforcement of Article 17 is suspended in such a scenario. So, it's not absolute.

It's also applicable against individuals. Further, it is not self-executory because the Article clearly states that a law to that effect must be made defining it as an offence for the said purpose.

Art 17 is not absolute. So shouldn't the first statement be right?

Art 17 is absolute in the sense that there are no reasonable restrictions on it I guess?

Sorry I misread.

Article 17 is not absolute. So, C should be correct.

Obviously not if question is picked up from the popular book. They say it is absolute.

It's very gray actually because not much discussion has been done on this Article.

However, the SC in many judgements has iterated that fundamental rights are not absolute. So, it applies to Article 17 as well.

in the end, it will also matter from where UPSC picks ups the question or what they interpret.. just like no law no liberty of Locke vs where there is law vs there is no liberty of hobbes.

where upsc went with the former

@Rj_Khan but cag can be removed only if he accused of wrong doings...
See my point of view is fixed term is associated with security of tenure which most Constitutional authority have..
But can you say that governor in any state have a security of tenure??
If there is no security of tenure then how can the term be fixed.

@Freakhoto my point is that doctrinally no tenure is fully secure. Thus, a fixed term implies a statutorily/constitutionally laid down term until a certain time (5/6 yrs) or age (60/65/67/70). Whether the term of X is less/more secure is a matter of real-politik.

@AzadHindFauz shouldn't statement 1 be correct! Article 156 mentioned that governor can hold a office for five year but it is not fixed.. Even SC also interpreted the same!!

@balwintejas

Governor has been given 5 years of office term. Probably you are getting confused with the "security of tenure" which is not provided to them. Meanwhile SC had given judgement that governor can't be removed from the office if the reason given are insufficient or the issue is "lack of confidence". All in all, statement 1 is wrong .

@dragon_rider  U can eliminate Punjab Haryana easily. Between Western UP and MP:

West UP must have influence of Punjab Haryana vis-a-vis Eastern UP close to Bihar and Jharkhand which is time and again affected by Floods.
Coming to MP, looking at income based schemes and Better MSP programmes it would be difficult to eliminate but topography( rift Valley),soil type, Large area will have low per hectare  productivity.

Productivity also includes pricing and marketing. comparing location of Western UP and MP, the former will have better edge.

Recently upgraded to ministerial level with Australia. So, 2+2 is at ministerial level with all quad members.

Indus valley script was bidirectional, isn't it?

As per many sources, IVC script was written boustrophedonically.(Bidirectional) But this is not certain, and many claim that it was written right to left.

NCERT suggests that it was written from right to left.

Thanks!
Had read somewhere about its bidirectionality. The old NCERT doesn't mention about the direction of the script writing. However, since new ncert mentions it then will follow that fact in future.

I think you read it in one of the Vision tests. I read it there.

@mhs11 I think it's all four but i'm not entirely sure about the Annual Financial Statement. The other three are there in the budget for sure.

Well AFS is the Budget. My doubt is regarding 3&4. Are they mentioned in the constitution explicitly?

lol my mind totally blanked out on the AFS thing, but the last two are not mentioned in the Constitution. It's the FRBM Act that mandates the govt. to present those two documents along with Fiscal Policy Strategy Statement and Medium Term Expenditure Framework Statement.
