Experience - Overall a very cordial and pleasant environment. No grilling happened at any time. I disagreed with some opinions at some points and clearly communicated I beg to differ. Chairman sir was encouraging with a pleasant smile all throughout. Other members had a poker face though.

 

Utility of Mocks-  I think it's very important to do at least 2-3 mocks. It helps in getting accustomed to thinking on the feet and gain confidence when 5 very Senior officials are asking questions to you.  Vajirao&Reddy , Unacademy & Shubra Ranjan were good and closest to the actual interview environment.

Made me comfortable by asking about how am I doing and how is the weather outside.

Said -"You must have read all the newspapers since the morning, right?" I told  "Just two, that too only the front page"

Tell me two important news articles - one which is related to women issue, and other that has no impact on the Nation

You were born in Murshidabad, have u stayed there?

It has a rich history, why has its importance reduced in later times?

Many people think the progress of Bengal is mostly owed to the British, what is ur opinion?

So, u are a geographer, at least for this exam. Tell me where can I find the Mediterranean climate

what are the characteristics of this climate?

what are grown in this climate? (I said grapes, olives, citrus fruits) Then he said, "That means most of the wine-producing areas fall in this climate, right?"

Long monologue about climate change and how it is countered based on higher snowfall at some places while rising temp at others. Then asked me about my opinion on this whole scenario.

It is speculated that Western Europe my get frozen in few years, leading to freezing of their port. Why will it happen?

If during govt recruitment, 4-5 candidates get same marks and there is 1 vacancy, is the agency bound to provide info regarding the criteria to chose the one? (I was starting to say about the tie breaking rules, but she said suppose it does not exist and there was a verbal discussion before coming to the conclusion on recruitment)

You were in Sky Watcher's club, name 2 interesting things that u saw during ur time.

You won Maths Olympiad, do u know about Vedic Maths? How is it different than Maths we do today? (other questions not able to recall)

My experience: Board was very cordial, most of questions from DAF, most of questions were logical and very few factual questions, initially I was shivering but become comfortable and answer most of  questions.

Overall - Good experience, they were giving me enough time to speak and did not interrupt when I gave long answers in 1 or 2 ocassion.

 

Mock utility: Good for developing confidence and frame more structured/ balanced opinion.

 

But One-on- One discussion and lot of mock practice with friends helped me a lot.

At this point he asked me 2-3 more questions on defence tech and everyone including chairman was staring at the member only.

1. So you were talking about metaverse with sir, do you know about this company and its platform for metaverse related...

2. So what is UCC ? Why it was in the news ? Do you think intervention of state in personal life is necessary ?

3. India is a fossil based economy, what is GoI doing to reduce the dependency on fossils ?

 

He asked me few counters on this and 1-2 more questions that i am forgetting right now.

1. What is NGT ? its role, why and when it was setup ?

2. Statement, "NGT is creating unnecessary impediments for development", two points in favour and two in against.

3. So do you think NGT has really made impact ?

4. Asked about same Grading A,B,C of NGT with respect to NCR air pollution that i have never heard of, "explained me and gave a very long monologue" and then asked whether it really works ?

5. Why we take actions when air is polluted and not put limitations when it is clean to maintain the good AQI ?

 

He asked me 2-3 more questions on similar lines that i am forgetting right now

1. Do you think agricultural income should be taxed ?

2. What will be the criteria ?

3. How will you make policies to stop black money hoarding in the name of agricultural income ?

4. So will you tax an farmer with an annual income >50lakh ?

🪑: Your interview is over and we had a really good time talking to you.

 

It was a average size room, with bright lighting. The member 2 and 3 were sitting at hands length. Overall, the questions were little bit random but the members and chair never interrupted and kept listening patiently.
