Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread

@Kira0705I dont think it required both sides in the answer as the question asked which one is better and justify my view...
But i m not sure if am right. Anyone kindly enlighten me on this. this is my first mains

@visionmaneven if you take a side better to show the other side in opinion based questions. I disagreed with the statement but showed some positives too.

Brace urself all for strictest marking.. Paper 3 was easy on face value butttt Questions were not that straightforward..

No comments on Paper 4..It was a hyperbole in some sense.. Either I am chutiya jisse paper mein kuch caveats lage or I m out of race

GS4 me toh punjab ka situation, and HC Gupta sahab ko leke touchy ho gae examiner..

Test series me they frame ques where more or less you can easily write 150-250 words.. Real exam me i feel lacking on content & it's relevance..

@STyeah he is already working. Gives exams to improve rank.

@CaesarStructure matters more than the content I think. I suppose there are marks for every part like 1 mark for intro 1 for conclusion and division of marks for every sub part of a question. Those who sacrifice structure by being innovative tend to lose out.

Brothers.. pata nhi.. par jitna hauwa banaya jata hain GS ka by test series people, paper was on different line.. Spent good part of Salary on Test series and Module course.. Paper was different..

mujhe nhi lagta toppers ki jo mocks ki copies dekhke ham log pattern banate hain wo mains me toppers bhi poora follow kar pate honge

@STNo. But that would explain how some first attempters get good marks while many with 4-5 attempts don't. I saw toppers' copies like tina dabi's, rank 2 last year. Pedestrian content but strictly followed what was asked in the question. Moreover that would make sense. As content richness is highly subjective and upsc would want to be as objective as possible in its checking.

@K_9bhai dekho.. very fewww people submit their Answer scripts in 3 hours..!! Vision mein no one asks if you agree writing in Mkj Ngr area.. I have seen people writing answers in 3 hours 40 mins.. and then they boast their marks..

@STWhat's your point? I am saying toppers write pedestrian answers even in test series. They only adhere to addressing all parts of a question.

@K_9We are in the dark. As long UPSC does not release model answers or topper copies, every explanation, even by coaching centres, is at best guest work. UPSC might even be revising their own criteria every year.

@K_9Sir.. i m saying ki Jaise paper 2 aur 3 aaye.. i found very difficult to stick to structure.. I am sure, I might lose the battle.. But maintaining structure in every question in 3 hrs is bhai very difficult for lesser mortals like me.. I humbly accept that i m not at par with candidates who can write structured content in every question in 3 hours...
