@LostWell according to me

  1. GS1 : More modern history than last year so easy in this sense , but equally ambiguous society and 1-2 ambiguous in geography so overall slightly easier than last year
  2. GS2 : very less from laxmikant or hot topic/judgements etc , governance question were of pub ad optional level very very tough than last year, also international relation question were not straightforward
  3. GS3: again ambiguous question , fringe topics both were more than last year at-least I felt so . ek do lollypops the like GST , UAPA wgrh but still tough paper
  4. GS4 : not sure what is the use of case study section ? anyhow found it direct and somewhat similar to last year in format esp those quotations wale questions

Overall - found it tougher than last year , was much better prepared this year , as someone said about the feeling after exam I knew I have made guesswork in some of the questions and was not sure whether my thinking was in right direction

In the question cum answer booklet there was an instruction asking us to strike off blank pages and spaces. Is it meant to be taken seriously? Will I be penalised?

@spymaster91 dont worry. Thats just a kind of precautionary measure. You will not be penalised.

In some of answers i have crossed the right side margine by single alphabet. There might be 2 such incidents in each paper. Does examiners cuts marks for that?

@BGP
I finished that UAPA NSA question first in exam hall... clubbed everything tightly into 3 pages (because of content i had for that question - obviously straight forward question) with conclusion... only to realize there is a blank page later

@Kira0705hey how useful/relevant all the main CA classes(forum/vision)? based on this year year papers what would you advise for 2020 main?

1.8k views

@spymaster91 It's so that someone in the UPSC chain does not tamper with your answers by adding extra material. I would be more than happy if someone voluntarily adds to my answers. Mere se to kuchh likhna hua nahi. Tu hi likh de kuchh bhai.?

@ChampakCoaching Waalas especially big names like Vision,Forum feed on fear of candidates.. After spate of current affairs classes, ethics modules etc., seeing this year's Mains, I won't be surprised if these people come out with new Test Series design of 50 tests or more with tagline "likhega ORN tabhi toh badhega ORN"..

@Champak?Even I left many blank pages. I did not want to cross all those pages as they were signalling the examiner aggressively that I did not write very well. That is why I left the blank pages stay blank.

@spymaster91 Coaching people give too much emphasis on completing the paper and filling pages. Only relevant content fetches marks.

Ye topper log har queation mein 3 page khacha-khach kaise bhar dete hai, itna toh time bhi nahin hota.
Aur case study mein toh 4 page bharte hai 250words ki bajaye 400 words likhte hai.
Mere toh 2 page mein hi 220 words hi jate hai.
Word limit cross karne ke negative marks ni hote kiya.

effective laws which require civil servants to give reasons for their official
decisions, (for example: a Freedom of Information law);
• management approaches which encourage all public officials and civil servants to
deal positively with corruption and unethical practice when they encounter it.
• ‘whistleblower’ protection law to protect appropriate 'public interest disclosures'
of wrongdoing by officials;
• ethics audits to identify risks to the integrity of the most important processes (for
example financial management, tendering, recruitment and promotion, dismissal
and discipline);
• new Human Resource Management strategies (which link, for example, ethical
performance with entry and advancement, and ethical ‘under-performance’ with
disciplinary processes), merit based promotion and recruitment, antidiscrimination protections;
• training and development in the content and rationale of Ethics Codes, the
application of ethical management principles, the proper use of official power,
and the requirements of professional responsibility, and
• effective external and internal complaint and redress procedures.

@Dijkstrahaa.. Actually , looking back , I loved the way UPSC ask d few questions this year. Though I'm not satisfied with my performance , these papers are of good standard.

Infact attempting test series papers are like playing on Indian pitches where as upsc papers are like facing anderson in swinging conditions of Edgbaston on first day first session.
