@John_Titorwe should stop taking this anonymous platform so seriously. Just like benavcom, we don't know credentials of anyone. Anyone can fake anything here. Just enjoy this place and not be too serious. We can never even know if he's from IIT and IIM as he claims. If what he says is true, then good for him. And if what he says is false, internet fame means nothing.
The importance of Indian Civil Services,esp IAS/IPS/IFS, is not because of the rigor of the CSE.Those getting recommended are not necessarily the best among applicants in terms of aptitude and attitude.But the services are hugely important in a hierarchical and power-worshipingsociety.Noamount of wealth can buy the social respectability and recognition that IAS/IPS can bestow on a young maninstantly.Asfor job profile,holding influential positions on behalf of people and for the service of people under absolute constitutional protection is beyond compare with a corporate job,however lucrative it may be in terms of monetarycompensation.Itis absolutely worthwhile trying for IAS/IPS as many times aspossible.Itis a romantic adventure.
@PhoooooExtremely well written.

Dear@kochikaameu said well..
My boss said to me once.. A normal clerk can be more than satisfied and happy than Group A Officer.. Times have changed..
I m going personal and PARDON ME for that... I have personally seen clerks who always boast smile and have much helping attitude than senior officers.. Reason just being that they realise the value of being Human and helping fellow human..
Second fact is that PLEASE DO NOT fret over someone's comments on Forum... Save your disappointments for the time when you see people in Govt. Service who according to you will be Absolutely incompetent... You will realise that people who ABSOLUTELY can't even write one sentence in Official Language of GOI are in service and on top of that they even refuse to work and you are made to work because they have SC/ST logo backing them.. Save disappointments for that time.. Trust me!! You will need alot and I mean ALOT ALOT ALOT of patience then to handle that situation..
Happy New Year !!!
PS: They will be get promotion benefits too..
God bless us all.. Spend time with your loved ones.. May we all be blessed by good health.
@STfunnily enough, your username is also ST. Anyway, my father is a government servant as well and I understand what you are saying completely well. However, it's wrong to generalize. There are so many general category officers who are absolutely incompetent as well.
I would say this is an Indian work culture issue (particularly with complete job security) rather than a caste one.
@STwow a general category means competent and sc/st means incompetent. Waise last time many general irs and ias officers face early retirement for incompetency.
@STmy father was a clerk and i completely agree with what you said....even after retirement he is always ready to help anyone...my father once said to me that if you become a civil servant then treat your subordinates with respect specially group 4 officers....baaki bhai rahi baat incompetence ki to yeh har jagah hai...don't generalise it...general ho ya sc/st acche burre log har jagah hai...

I didn't generalize brother !! Generalizing would be very wrong !!
@bevancomHow r u sure about it ?? Is it because of optional?? Or Gs or both?? With or without essay?
