Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@lakadbaggaThis is reality of exploiting loopholes for benefits.
How people have manipulated EWS -
- LAND DIVISION between father and elder brother. Nominee for father is beneficiary candidate. (My friend did it.)
- No mechanism to ensure land ceiling limit is not violated by candidate by transferring land just before obtaining certificate.
- Income certificate of below rs 8 lakh. (Manipulated in other reservation also).
I am EWS candidate itself. I have fulfilled all criteria. But I feel EWS is problem than a solution. Many genuine beneficiary are left out.
My opinion and it may be incorrect - Better scrap this ews reservation and compete in general list.
@TETRACYCLINEye kaun bola ki ek week aur lgega ?
@RealMango
It seems a strong possibility that decision will be in favour of those ews candidates...
As well as them , upsc would also have sensed that . Its just about clarity and "no non sense attitude" , which is delaying the result.
Upsc dont want to create a mess.
After the verdict they will declare the result asap.
Even if the verdict comes in favour of upsc , and case goes in high court.... Upsc will exclude those names and release the result...
And as the history tells itself , if case goes on high court - supreme court ...UPSC wont gonna loose it
@Caesarthis is a classic case of agents in RTO office
Solution
- as you mentioned->e governance .eg of RTO ->vahan and sarthi portals are now there; ppl access with the help of CSC centres ( now these CSC centres are in a way govt authorised agents only)
However there need to be given a wide publicity to these online platforms else ppl still fall in trap of the agents.
An accessible and functional enquiry counter need to be there in every such office so that ppl dont fall prey to agents.
- Need to know why official staff was not able to do the job of those middleman ? Understaffing is a very common problem; here in my office there is provision of 5 clerks however only two are posted; so understaffing need to be dealt with and only after that we should think of outsourcing and other stuffs.
3)finally middleman and officials nexus need to be broken. Many times clerks dont work so that ppl are forced to get their work done through middlemen.
Surprise inspection of offices by district magistrates need to carried out on regular basis to break such nexus.
@White_Dust
ye mera anuman hai bhai
The place where I stay, I usually see a very old, helpless and visibly homeless woman sitting on road or simply roaming here and there. This monday, I went to sabzi mandi as it happens every monday evening. Again I saw that woman selling some vegetables. She was standing in cold and literally there were no customers at her cart. I decided to go and buy something there. I purchased methi saag for Rs 20. When she was packing it, She put 3 mooli (daikon) extra with methi saag. I asked mooli price but she denied. She told me to pay Rs 20 only and have mooli for free. Again I stood at some distance and observed her for like 20 mins. She was hopelessly waiting for customers but in vain. I decided to come back to my room. I was walking with a weird silence inside me.
@BehemothIn the middle of the night this post made me realise how whiny ,ungrateful I am. Not appreciating the things that I have but rather complain about those that can't be controlled....life is short , enjoy it and appreciate the fact that you are blessed.
We centre our lives around that single black dot(negative)on a white paper but ignore the importance of huge white space we already have.
@Behemoth

Hey, if I may ask, what did he tell you ?
@Behemoth
What was the size of her cart? Was she selling few vegetables only or a lot of them?Like were the total vegetables under ₹500,1000 or more?
If the amount is reasonable what best we can do is that we can contribute some money(say ₹50 each so if 10 people can contribute we will have ₹500 in hand). We all can transfer these contributions to you via PAYTM or some other mean. What you can do is you can use this money to buy vegetables from her and then distribute it to other needy people like street dwellers, rickshaw pullers etc.
By this way, some people who want to help will be able to help, the old lady will have some business and you will get an opportunity to do something about which bothered your heart.
Last year I used to smoke 3 cigs a day(₹16*3=48) and my this year resolution is to quit smoking(at least try my best). I would be more than happy to contribute ₹50 or even more that I would had spend on Marlboro.
P.S.- I could have messaged you personally but here those who are willing to help will be able to respond.
@pysh12950True. This small incident offered me few lessons:
- One doesn't need to be rich or educated to be generous and kind-hearted. Its just the intention that matters.
- There are people especially geriatric population that need the attention of government and society. Wish we all could do something for them.
- Self-satisfaction is a wealth which one should never afford to lose.
@IthriveoncocaineShe could have opted the easiest option of begging but instead she found dignity in doing something. Yes, I have determined to buy some vegetables every monday from her and thats all I could do for her. I am not much optimistic about the idea of collecting money. Thanks for extending help bhai. I would do a bit with whatever I have.
@IthriveoncocaineAppreciate your gesture bro.
@dancingminion
extreme of political interference
leaders and their ppl try to extract maximum amount out of any project
and many such things and if u dont bend u will be shunted or transferred
