I dnt understand why everyone is considering gs1 paper as easy.... society ques were open ended,in geography hardly any non geo opt person must have written water masses part correctly, thn there were questions like north western part n location of industries, thn there was central asian influence on gandhara art...and of course secularism ques
These many ques r enough to screw our scores

@ManchesterUnitedsaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:

Services sector, multilayered planning,Vishweshwariah,OGW,last few case studies in ethics would be deciding factor in GS I believe!

There is no such "deciding factor" in GS. Especially not 5 questions out of 70+. Even those who have screwed up these 4-5 questions can cover up by attempting the remaining well. Sabki apni strengths hoti hain where they feel they can maximize their score.

Essay will play it's part though in screwing or elevating ones chances. Like there can be easily 20-30 marks variation , which is hard to bring in all GS papers combined.
I got around 115 in 2017 where 140 is pretty common that year. I felt I wrote well and could never understand where things went wrong till date. My game got over with that paper itself in that attempt. Even this time, im shit scared of my essay paper, especially after people are saying it's easy this time.?

@DKTBro, I completely agree with you regarding the need to have the integrity the civil servants must posses.
But i just want to point out that the example that you have mentioned, "Ronanki Gopalakrishna" is an example of frivolous case. The petitioner in question got over enthusiastic and had no grounds to challenge the claim. Ronanki sir had replied to this notice and case ended there itself.
This is a classic case of envious relatives/friends wanting to get back at him. But the damage has been done, now whenever someone typed fake certificates his is the first to crop up in search engines. His image got maligned already. My friend personally knows him and can vouch for this. But yes I agree that there are lots of undeserved ones applying for fake certificates and they must be barred from attending future exams.

In these type of questions I believe content is same for everyone...what matters is presentation style and logical flow

@The_Powerpuff_girl
i have sequentially mentioned simon commission in which british attitude was nonaccomodative then i have mentioned about shimla conference where veto was given to muslim league
after this i have mentioned about cabinet mission in which there was necessary division into 3 groups which could only be changed after 10 years then i have mentioned about independence act in which freedom was given to princely states not to join either dominion which resulted in hyderabad kashmir issue and finally have mentioned about deliberate delay in declaration of red cliff boundary award that led to massive violence at partition

@ManchesterUnitedfunny you would say that because Karnataka students have actually been voicing their opinions vociferously since past weeks. Top university IISC has relentlessly been protesting against CAA-NRC, and so has IIM Bangalore in form of silent vigil. Christ University management had to issue notice to students to not discuss/debate it on campus. Meanwhile, Manipal also had students organising protests. Even teachers at IIM Bangalore along with students wrote to govt condemning violence against students. IISC yesterday even protested to show solidarity with JNU students. NSLIU Bangalore and IIM yesterday gathered at Town Hall for the same purpose.
Also, Apart from Karnataka, various other premier institutions of India and the plenty others in the entire world have been voicing their concerns.

But, I guess selective amnesia does run deep.
Also few people here, while masquerading as neutral arbiters or trying to pose as the devil’s advocate are actually harbouring very disturbing double standards, and few even bigoted.
Before 2014, everyone used to say shit about congress which they deserve, and everyone used to openly criticise Manmohan Singh, and everyone used to support Kejriwal and Hazare against fight for corruption.

Why are same things today condemned at?
Right and left both have very toxic hypocrisy and I hope we not as aspiring civil servants but just as humans, don’t lose our heart in the process. It’s almost troubling to see what have people come to be. While the Left suffer from selective amnesia when it comes to plight of Kashmiri Hindus, Islamic fundamentalism and discrimination against Hindus in theocratic neighbour states. The Right is blind against 2003 riots, mob lynchings, absolute control over neutral institutions, hijacking of journalism, poison being spewed 24/7 on IT Cell and so on.

Aristotle said rightly that educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. And, one might become an IAS one day, but that doesn’t mean one’s good person. And it’s almost appalling that people would go to lengths to defend ministers when they see how common man suffers at their hands. Nanavati Committee exonerating you know who but pointing fingers at those 3 honest IPS officers which tried to who tried not be a yes man and protect innocents. All former bureaucrats Shiv Shankar Menon, MK Narayan, SY Quirashi, and tonnes of others, entire academia, experts, worldwide intellegensia - everyone is left? It’s not easy to speak out when you have something to lose, and it’s very easy to be pro establishment because it’s win win. While one not be anti-something just for the sake of it - not doing anything, is equal to encouraging it. Actors, YouTubers, few good journalists receiving death threats for showing a dissenting voice? This is just going backwards.

Let us for once try to put ourselves in original position, behind veil of ignorance. Condemn each and every wrong, and call out hypocrisy where ever you see it. Islamic fundamentalism is fucked up. But so is every other form of religious fundamentalism.
