Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@corrigible_87I too wrote on same lines and also gave all India institutes like AIIMS nits IITs etc also wrote how internal migration is transforming gave ex of chat puja in Gujarat ....and then PSUs etc ....another side is how globalisation having impact like glocalisation .....villages people are learning diff languages making diff food gave ex of YouTube channel
@dancingminionthis answer has good points ...I gave example for how non performance and also how bad performance ...like mob lynching police inaction ...and then another example of corruption etc gave how Vivekananda defined duty equal to worshipping God and Abdul Kalam how he said polluting duty means saluting everyone ...and gone in lines that polluting means not just action but also inaction

@STnothing to worry.. each of us here seem to have interpreted in our own way.. when the examiner creates his own term called "little India".. what other choice do we have?
Two large streams of thoughts here
- homogenous pockets of culture. Majority seem to go this way
- heterogenous intermingling
It can't be both. So one group to be hit. No one will ever know which group
@Phagocyteeven federal supremacy many have writren federalism as basic structure ..and harmonious construction between funda righta and directive principles... tje group hit will have 2-3 marks lower than the others .in these questions

@Raja123exactly.. this is one line of interpretation. You are basically saying India is a salad bowl ( different veggies mixed together, no one veggie having it's own special place in the bowl) Let's look for those smaller salad areas (heterogenous) in a bigger bowl
Other thought is India is a thali.. with different katoris for each sabzi. Each katori being a small India, but homogenous inside that katori.
I'm revising my own opinion where i said only one can be right. In our country we have a mix of both happening. Maybe someone who integrated both these ideas will stand out?

I had also written similar answer. I quoted state wise examples. Kerala - onam is celebrated with jeal and fervour while in Bengal Durga Navratri is celebrated. While people in Bengal have fish curry and rice as maincourse, it is masala dosa in tamilnadu. In north east, we have several pockets within pocket. Naga of nagaland have different food habit and tradition. Even Naga have more than twenty varieties of culture.
But due to impact of globalisation, culture contact is increasing. People in delhi are eating dosa and in banglore, people might be eating punjabi dishes. Not just globalisation, cultural practices have spreading through trade and pilgrimage since time immorial.
Budhism and jainism from bihar has spread to maharastra, nd gujrat.

@ranyo_asokathese institutes ka test series model answers are so so bad when they themselves frame a subjective question. Only factual questions they come up with decent answers
@Phagocytei dint mean to legitimize them..thats the majority view it seems... yes model answers are not upto thw mark even with ample time and internet to surf

@PhagocyteI have first mentioned about unique pocket of culture in India eg mithila culture in bihar, vaishnav tradition in assam, vithoba cult in Maharashtra. Then wrote about historical development like Hindu Muslim assimilation in lucknow, ganga yamuna tehjib. Then effects of migration like delhi which has cultural assimilation, along with this two three other examples.
This question I feel cannot be wrong for anybody. So whatever one has written depends upon how the examiner looks at it.

yar mechanical engineering paper was too lengthy plus toughest in years , pta nhi nhi kyu kia ye, phle se he rank nhi aati usse, upsc has uploaded papers , bakinoptional mein 10 marker ki 150 words ki limit hoti h , yha 3 4 pages die the yar 10 marker mejnz despite itna effort , total 400 ka attmpt hua, huh!
