@rawhull "Top of page 19 to get clearer idea" --- that point everybody know---

Finally drained can not be said --- for Ravi or Jhelum or Chenab ... (Even I never heard like that) --have u ever heard that Yamuna "Finally" drained into Bay of Bengal (it merged to Ganga not drained in BoB)

btw -- leave it to UPSC... Good night brother...

@Hawkeye1301 Page 30 also says Indian sector only. In totality Sutlej is 1448 km long and is actually the longest tributary of Indus

Waking up at 3 and googling "are Hitler's relatives still alive?", Weird🙄

PS: discussions on Chenab and Sutlej at 3 is weirder😆

Pls see first part of question.

Three out of four given Rivers meet with 4th one..only Chenab fits in that criteria.

Sutlej may or may not drain directly, individually but Sutlej not taking waters from Jhelum and Ravi directly for sure.

I guess this was the trap.

Although, I want Satluj to be correct for mine +2 but I'm hopeless.

@Dinzz888 don't worry bro atleast you aren't in disbelief. one question won't destroy your dream I'm confident that a person like you who atleast gets it now unlike others has iq much above others in the competition i truly hope and believe you'll clear the pre as cut-offs will most probably be lower.

UPSC hasn't even released last year's key.

And last laugh?? Based on what? UPSC keys? You think that UPSC keys are always correct?

They hire people who can't even research enough to frame a proper question.

I am in this game for the last 5 years, cleared pre all the time. Maybe this time too. And I have learnt one think- don't make this exam too personal and emotive.
Pre is absurd and absurdity mustn't let you become more absurd in discussing this for 2 whole weeks.

Even if the GOI documents reveal that sutlej is the answer, UPSC might surprise with a completely different answer. And the excited spectator that we are now will suddenly become mute spectators, accepting the dictatorship of the commission.

I know you don't like gyan, but gyaan is all I have after 4 failures.

Where it was written in the question that all 3  other tributaries should directly drain into the 4th one. The combined water of all three tributaries drain into Sutlej and it can be found in the book also. Also Sutlej by length is the longest tributary of Indus and this is a Fact.

Even if Upsc gives the answer Chenab or even Jhelum, we can't do anything.

I'm here only from last 2 days because i was getting bored. and this thing is really cool , new, and exciting right now. I'm still studying my optional and meanwhile wasting some time here too.

Government document on the contrary says chenab is answer btw

I totally respect your knowledge, experience and struggle boss, I am always open for gyan provided it's credible and convincing. I hope you finally taste the great success in upsc cse.

"pour"  is there in the q and Sutlej is not the longest tributary, it's chenab see ncert class 11. it clearly says that

I found this thread useful. Useful in how one should logically justify his/her answer.

@saurabher43267 ..no point in debating, already done to the extreme level.
But my intuition saying i will get -2.67 in that, based on first part, as Chenab fits in that.
Rest let almighty UPSC decide.
Period.

The level of question paper itself is the proof.

Pure desh ne scruitny rakha hai uske baad bhi question me error hote.
1) Harappa me ghoda wala qn

2) Last year fiasco.

3) Translation fiasco.

4) This year's sutlej /chenab qn.
5) Laureus award and iCC test championship.

Mazaak bana rakha hai UPSC ne itne reputed exam ka.

Just look at the CSAT paper. Those RCs are insanely tough and ambiguos. Looks like someone just copy pasted from a random article on the internet and framed options without putting much brain.

I scored 100 percentile in CAT's VA RC section. Yet I find them ambiguos and tough.

Anyways

It pains me to finally realise that hard work is not respected. All these years I used to feel proud that I never flunked pre. But I finally realise that it was not due to my hardwork rather it was more due to favourable luck

@mahi2501 Agree with you. Pre is becoming more and more unpredictable and absurd with evert passing year. Who knows next year they will ask questions from persons in news or some less important awards like Oscar or booker prize etc (Which are generally asked in state psc). Only relief is that they are asking 30-40 questions from basic standard sources. Perhaps upsc don't want aspirants to attempt more number of questions or just trying to say don't solely prepare for upsc.
