Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.
@Tokyo bhai tumhi toh bol rhe the july ???
Bhai hunch hai...pakka kis ko pata hai....bhagwan ko bhi kal pata laga ga
@agog i come from a family of non vegetarians both from my mothers and fathers side.. I am not saying that people who consume meat are morally inferior in any way or form..and when did i talk about 100 percent non violence..we all are different shades of grey and exhibit violence in thoughts and sometimes in actions. violence is sometimes necessary for self defence.
my major area of concern is with the systemic violence that has been institutionalised and legitimised against few communities and species..
we dont need to control, enslave, torture and slaughter these animals to live a healthy and enriched life, violence when in defensive is a necessity but when in offensive is wrong. when under attack by a wild animal u will do anything to defend urself(even violence), but when u feed pineapple laden with crackers to the animal that was doing no harm to you..its cruel
now lets talk about plants..well plant are not sentient ,animals are...plants don't have CNS, they dont feel pain joy fear like animals do...animals are conscious, plants are not.. they dont writhe in pain when attacked and killed...having said that i do believe every time we rip a piece of plant away , some damage is done...but in the end its about minimising the suffering..to consciously choose how to be least violent.
and i believe you understand nuances because there is something holding us back from consuming human flesh. the logic trees are alive, humans are alive so if we can eat trees we can also eat humans doesnt work

You don't know if they don't feel pain. You just don't see or hear it.
Have watched plenty of documentaries on various channels like Animal planet, nat geo etc etc during childhood.
i am a weapon enthusiast too!
Dishkiayon-dishkiyaon-dishkiyaon!! :P
Disclaimer: totally irrelevant to thread topic.
Dietary preference.
1. The argument about government promoting livestock sector: it has to provide employment and run economy. It cannot shut shops.
2. The government cannot restrict people's food choices is misplaced: US by law has made it illegal to slaughter dogs. Even though for many asian communities there it is food(eg Koreans, Chinese well they eat everything). Similarly in India also in some countries in Africa cow is a revered animal. You eat whatever you want but saying that government or society cannot decide is far fetched.
3. Making hue and cry about animal cruelty due to fire crackers, colors, etc while munching on other animals is a bit hypocritical.
4 Sapiens argument: agriculture destroyed this, livestock rearing that. Well Harari himself turned vegan after writing the book. Don't know whether he has left cereals too.
5. Post modern identity based characterisation like dalit, savarna, etc is really not needed imo.
6. Don't believe in inferior species concept keeping humans at centre. No you are not the centre of universe. (Side note: there is no such religion as humanity)
7. Eat whatever you want just don't make it a chest thumping exercise.
8. Atleast ensure the process in which the animal is killed for food is not pain inducing. Be kind.
1. Agreed.
2. Broadly agreed. Not all parts in India though.
3. Not necessarily. Killing an animal using firecrackers isn't something that any person (vegetarian or non-vegetarian) is used to. Here, animal was an elephant. The crackers were meant for a wild boar which was destroying crops. Inhumane as it would have been if the boar had died in that manner, it probably would not even have made the news. Just because someone is a non-vegetarian does not mean you cannot have compassion towards animals.
4. Indeed Yuval Harari is vegan, and rightly so if it aligns with his moral compass. Just because your moral compass does not align with his, it does not mean that you cannot reference his work to advance your point.
5. I believe it's absolutely necessary given how non-vegetarianism was castigated on this thread as unnatural for humans. If you've read Ambedkar, Yengde, Teltumbde, Iliah, or the Ambedkar collective, you would know that vegetarianism has been used by Upper caste Hindus to oppress Dalits over centuries. When arguments such as calling it "unnatural" are advanced, one must understand the connotations. Just calling it as I see it.
6. Humans may not be superior, but they are unique. No species has been able to leave a mark on Earth as humans have. We have agency over what we do, which is why we can have this discussion. You can try teaching a cow physics, but it probably won't write you a paper.
7. Totally agreed.
8. Ideally, yes.
@Tokyo Itna Bekar hunch?
Haha...hunch is beyond any judgement...
How will I eat goat and chicken and fish after reading this. Agriculture also kill worms and insects and rodents.
Yes and washing your hands with soap kills bacteria. Don't wash your hands then. Bacteria is a living thing. You tell me which is more evil ? Practicing agriculture to feed yourself and others Or slaughtering an animal in front of you watch him shiver with pain. Wait for his death only to eat him later.
