Bilkul nahi. Even if options are set wrong and two options can be correct. Upsc won't drop it. Upsc will apply the doctrine of choosing most appropriate option.

However in Gandhi irwin question, there is no discrepancy but absurdity in translation. Fearing backlash by court, parliament, it may drop it.

In prelims there are no hindi or english medium for the purpose of evaluation. Answer would be same for everyone. However two options can be considered correct by upsc.

Upsc Kuch bhi Kar Sakti hai.if you had followed the interview of 2019 exam during Corona lockdown. You will able to guage to what extent upsc can go.

2017 Supreme Court case was regarding ambiguous questions, where one particular answer may be proved correct by UPSC to the court.. however, the Gandhi-Irwin question does not limit to wrong translation but to an altogether different option... A candidate would normally cross check the English version if there are grammatical errors or incase he/she is unable to comprehend the question in hindi. In this question there was no such need. Gandhi-Irwin had nothing to do with NCM. If option 2 and 3 were ruled out, one would be prompted to chose A as the option and that option was also provided. No necessity arises to cross verify...

Transgender. Though I have marked it 1&4.
