@Thor_vs_Hulk bit the problem is, the policy talks about excess grains also now how do you interpret that ? Horse gram is a grain and also recently it was in news that across Karnataka geoundut production is bumper so In such case when there is no msp and farmers not getting sufficient price they can divert their produce for biofuels

Yeah.. But oil seeds are not food grains. And it explicitly says non edible oil seeds.. That was the whole point of asking the question

Oil seeds can only be used for Biodiesel not for ethanol.. So considering ethanol ground nut is excluded automatically.. And for biodiesel it clearly says edible oil seeds..

horse grain = foodgrain TOO. if emergency arises and its in excess, use in policy (SOURCE:PIB)

@Equalizer same case with me , groundnut is indeed an excess crop but it is not explicitly mentioned in policy.

Hum logon ne sahi recall kiya tha. In bumper production excess foodgrain can be converted into biofuel with permission of competent authority. Ye diya to hai in document someone shared just now. Still all of these ka kam chances hai.

@Equalizer India is second largest producer of groundnut maine ye sochkar D laga diya tha every year groundnut ka excess production hota hain
