[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Coaching keys ke minimum 4 to 5 answers are wrong. Kisi ki bhi calculation kharaab karne ko itna hi kafi hoga.

i guess  AI , rukmabai ( cld be all ) , minister . And may be block chain (only 1)  what else ?

Not possible. If I consider AI and Rukmabai and Block chain wrong according to the answer you have provided then I fall below 100. But I have qualified.

I guess Minister can be A since many coachings were giving it D and probably AI too can be B and not D

Looks like cut-off is around 100-103. Rest we will know next year

My first comment on this group

This was my 6th attempt....wrote 3 civils mains and 1 ifos mains....getting 101.33 from vision...obc...still not qualified...29+ age...jobless...my suggestion to people who are in their 3rd or 4th attempt....please get a job... without job pressure will be huge and it will affect your performance.....I am also looking for advice from any senior player regarding future opportunities...I did btech from a good college...thank you....

I opened this thread after a day and was bombarded with @prachimalik1121311 's  posts. They simply reminded me of my past three attempts when I always used to hide my tears away, crying in silence.

To be very honest, even this year, I was prepared with a plan to cry somewhere alone.

@prachimalik1121311 Trust me when I say this - cry your heart out for a day or two and then let it all go. Think only of the future. Think of getting a job, if you don't have one currently. Think of any other Plan B that you may have. After a day or two of crying, think only of the future.

@captainamerica That story turned out to be hoax created by media and NTA told to sue them if they continue to spread misinformation. Not to say, there cannot be error in checking but should not believe anything that is spread in media.
Rest, I do not understand what problem UPSC has with final marks and answer key to not be displayed before final result and why it cannot provide our OMR response.

Not cleared prelims

And when should for prelims I should join

Successfully flunked prelims this year with this in mind "First attempt bahut kam logon ka hota hai" :P

Jokes apart, this happened because I gave up too early .. so one of the learnings is not to give up 1-2-3-5-10-20-30 days before exam even if your scores are low in test series or if you feel that you are not thoroughly prepared ..

ATB to all :)

Edit : Also, trust your hard work.

Join mains test series after this mains only, as it would be crowded as of now.  Meanwhile, read all the gs and optional and make notes. February and March mein write test series for mains, like total mains.

Prelim ka one thing I feel, which I have done l for last 3 times, doing pyqs. This time around I would do for cds, capf and some questions from recent net/jrf papers.

Baki prelim test series is not useful imo, rather Devote that time in pyqs, basic NCERTs, std books and also the mains knowledge would come handy.

But start mains preparation as soon as possible, because the more you delay, the more you would slip into negative zone of laziness and comfort. And the cycle would continue yet again.

And when should for prelims I should join

You should prepare notes for static topics of mains. Notes for keywords given in the syllabus. All of them. Test series I don't thinks is really necessary.

Prelims test series you can join though. Probably start around end Jan or Feb start. I got 81 last time and this time I was getting 114.5 from vision key. Don't know how much I actually ended up getting, but I cleared pre. I have been reading the comments and despite what most of the people here would have you believe, the trick to prelims is still the same. Stick to your sources(source should be comprehensive) and those monthly or yearly compilations for CA. And revise so many times that even looking at it a day before prelims just makes you want to throw it away. And then revise once more. Pay attention to the word 'not' and its contexts in the compilations.

@Katsumoto Dude I was in the same predicament few years ago. What I did was I gave exams for regulatory bodies and banks. The results are fast and opportunities keeps on coming during the year. Further, regulatory bodies are highest paying jobs in government. Keep special emphasis on RBI, IRDA, SEBI, SIDBI etc. Then again comes SSC which gives a stable income and ease of working. Although, I assume you being passed from a good college have command over maths and english.

Rest PSCs are there but they are mostly uncertain and results come with a lag. If u r from general category start prep today. Any issues people can PM me I can guide.

One more thing I would like to add. This is in relation to the actual exam. A friend of mine who cleared this year and is in IPS gave me. Do not go back to the question again and change your options. Once you have marked it, mark it. After reading the question and reading the options, your first intuition is correct in most of the cases. And I saw it first hand this year. I was about to change my options in 2 questions due to confusion but then remembered his advice and decided against it. Both of them got correct later on.

100 baat ka ek baat... Prelims is like tossing a coin even after all the knowledge, the questions which select you are based on tukka... and what we call intelligent guess is just an intellectual version of tukka... in case of exceptional preparation yeah there is 99% chances but many people who wave their flag of crossing prelims are selected through guess and therefore we see people missing mains by 100-200 marks as well...

kabhi kabhi coin toss kar k guess karne pe b lagatar sahi answer aata hai... iska matlab ye nahi ki you are making intelligent guess!!

I have read at few places the question about that dalit book... that it could have been done as we know about gandhi ambedkar and jyotiba phoole.. so we can eliminate all these and select the option of wagalanlar(if m not wrong). Lekin isme koi intelligent nahi hai...spectrum jaisi kitaab ko padh k gandhi ambedkar aur phoole ka saara cheez nahi jaan sakta...

in the end... all those cribbing of not getting prelims cleared shows that mains prep is not at their best... and when it will be at the best, u are bound to clear prelims if god is not against you!

Though personal opinion... but i think this is correct.... and right time to prepare more as I believe that i have missed coz of 1-2 questions but i know that i have done many questions wrong coz of less preparation...

don’t be jealous of anyone clearing prelims, look inside and answer is all there, clearing prelims is just the start!!
