Official: SFG / RLG All Tests Discussions in one place

Hello All,

The Group usage here is a little cumbersome, so I am creating this thread to make sure that all questions with doubts stay in one place. Can someone push all the doubts and queries here? I will make this an announcement?

Test 11 Q-15

The 3rd statement should have been virendranath chattopadhyay. It is not virendranath chatterjee. Many students have left this question or marked it wrong because of this.

In bengal chattopadhyay or chatterjee are used interchangeably, this is bcoz British had problem with pronouncing chattopadhyay so they started calling chatterjee.

Test 11 Q22.- Statement 3 states - separate electorates for 'all' communities. Isn't this statement wrong?. Shouldn't it be only Muslim community.

@mickeyviru masulipatnam factory was 1616. Surat 1613

Any source for it ?

In ncert I had read 1611 masulipatnam

@Thinker Could you please mention the source in which it is mentioned Surat factory was established in 1613.

Its a very common thing and I don't understand what is the problem over it. All the standard books mention it i.e. First British Factory at Surat after permission from Jahangir was set up in 1613. Just a normal google search is enough. I am attaching link below for you but I am not going to do this again. Please put in some efforts by yourself.

@Thinker Q32 in today's paper-

Both Anugraha Narayan Sinha and J B Kripalani were teachers, not just the latter.Marks should be awarded for both options or the question should be cancelled.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._B._Kripalani

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anugrah_Narayan_Sinha

All the mentioned options acted as a teacher sometimes down their life but the question is asking for the profession as a teacher and most appropriate option is J B Kriplani. Always tick the most appropriate answers that the thumb rule of UPSC.

Dear Candidates, at least have the courtesy of going through the thread first before posting your doubt. I can not type and explain the same thing again and again. This kind of spoon-feeding is also not beneficial for you. The answer to the question of Chaterjee and Chattopadhyay had already been explained in the morning. I am copy-pasting the text again here for you but I will not do it henceforth.

It's one and the same thing the British used to pronounce Chatterjee as Chattopadhyay. The same is the case with Bankim Chandra Chatterjee  (who wrote famous Anandmath containing out now national song Vande Mataram) who was also called Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

@Thinker

Mahadayi river flows through 3 states Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka but in explanation sheet of test 7 question no 41 it is written only 2 Goa and Karnataka . Tribunal also shared water between these 3 states not 2.

Theonlyin the explanation sheet must have been written by mistake. In the class, it was discussed that it flows through 3 states Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Yes, there are a total of 12 States. Article 371 itself mentions Maharashtra and Gujrat & Article 371 D mention Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. But Article 371 E is for Andhra again. So a total of 12 States with 11 articles from 371 to 371 J.

Test 11 Q37

Dadabhai Naoroji

Statement 1 :-

He propounded the theory of Drain of wealth for the first time in his book Poverty and Un British rule in India .

( Why this statement is wrong???)

He propounded this theory for the first time in 1867. The book was published later I guess around 1901. So the statements stands incorrect. Because He did not propound the theory in his book for the first time.
