That is the problem.Don't know what to do when one has made all the notes and finished all syllabus.Whatever she wrote is beyond me anyways. Also saw her GS strategy, she mentions so many sources for both gs and optional that its impossible for me for retain this much even if I read it.

So thinking of waiting for marksheet before taking any step.Any ideas from your side?

Will it be wise to devote 2 hours for optional at this time? Already time between pre and mains is very short these days and 4-5 days get wasted in post pre answer related bakar. Also did not get much time to do value addition in GS since Mains ended in Jan itself.

I have a query:

Today, I was going through Rank 15 sociology's strategy. After reading her strategy,I almost felt like a dwarf in front of whatever she has done for sociology. But when I saw her marks I realized that she got similar marks as mine in pap 2 and not much more in pap 1(where I had misinterpreted 2 20 markers).

Now my query is do toppers always do what they tell or all this talk comes after getting a rank,I believed its humanely impossible to retain so much in the exam whatever she wrote. How can one do so much?If people do so much should'nt they be getting 300 marks and not marks similar to mortals like me.

This query is being written purely out of anxiety.Should I start remaking my optional notes again? How do people follow so many sources and still able to retain so much?Should this free time be used in making optional notes again again

I was going through that same blog yesterday and I felt overwhelmed even though I'm going for CSE2022. It's VERY comprehensive. Reading the amount of work she did just for optional is making me re-evaluate my whole decision of appearing for this exam 😂

For what it's worth though, she seems very genuine to me. Kinda opened my eyes to the sheer hard-work that lies ahead.

Notice by UPSC states that the new dates will be intimated with at least a 15 day gap between the new notice and the resumption of interviews.

What we can infer from this :

  1. CSE results will be delayed for 2020. They were to be out after 18th of June, 2021 and before 27th of June,2021 (initially). Now, with the postponement of the CSE interviews, the results will be delayed as they can only be out when the last interview has concluded.
  2. As the CSE 2020 results get delayed, the chances of CSE prelims 2021 getting delayed have increased.
  3. The candidates who will get IAS and IFS, after the results( & of course, interviews) of CSE 2020, are automatically ineligible to appear in CSE Prelims 2021 as per UPSC’s standard rule.
  4. So, the CSE Prelims 2021 can’t be conducted before the results of CSE 2020 are out.
  5. Can UPSC go ahead with CSE Prelims 2021 without the results of CSE 2020? Highly unlikely as of now. Reasons :

a) Would be untenable and burdensome to first finalize the cutoff and release CSE Prelims selected candidates of 2021 or first eliminate the IAS/IFS candidates of CSE 2020 from that list and then go ahead with the cutoffs.

b) With a 15-day gap between the announcement of dates and the next date of interviews, the chances of CSE results being out are more in the 2nd half of July (that too at the earliest). It can get delayed further as Covid is slated to peak by somewhere in mid-May. So, it becomes even more untenable to manage both the processes for CSE 2020 & 2021 going simultaneously.

c) No past precedence of UPSC conducting CSE Prelims before previous year’s results.( 1992 being exception due to labour unrest)

Conclusion : These are all probabilities and speculative analysis, based on what we know as of now. We can speculate as much as we want and as close to reality as possible, but don’t forget UPSC is the boss here. Ultimate decision lies with the members of UPSC. So, keep the preparations on and be prepared with both the eventualities of the binary

Same doubt. Maybe her blog is one piece which is best if left unread and untouched. After reading her blog,I doubted if I was sitting idle in room for last 3 years. Maybe its not for mortals like us.It looks like a horror story to mortals like us.Maybe Its for legends.

@inQuisitive I believe 2010 too.
If I have the dates correct, 2010 prelims was conducted on 23/05/2010 and the 2009 result was announced on 9/06/2010.

@necromancer : just checked now, UPSC 61st Annual report for 2010-2011. 2009 Final results were declared on May 6th, 2010.

But I see where this date 9/06/2010 might have come from. I believe this is the date on which they published marks. Screenshot here.

Is anyone else getting the feeling that UPSC will conduct prelims on 27th June(while wishing for postponement)?

I think this is a wrong assumption.

When people say that IAS and IFS are ineligible are to write prelims, which could be true, but then service allocation is announced only 2-3 months after final results and presumably between prelims and mains. You cannot guess which service you would get purely based on rank particularly those who get 80+. It is even more so for IFS since there are candidates giving IFS as first preference among top 70 which makes it more unpredictable for those who get 100-200 rank(this is for general candidate). Also, you would have to consider medical reports which DoPT only considers during service allocation.

So all in all, this ineligibility clause is applicable to those who are writing mains, and possibly the reason why they ask these details in DAF1.  So, one can assume they could go ahead with prelims as per the date as they would only need to release service allocation before mains (which is always the case every year).

@palindrome7  How to get this detailed paperwise breakup of marks?

imo you can study prelims till may end, complete the syllabus as if you have to write prelims on 31st may. Things will get clear by that time, then you can peacefully devote time to mains without uncertainty

@visionman Makes sense but I frankly doubt upsc will do such hair splitting just to make aspirants sit for the prelims on time. They are well aware of genuine grievances of serious aspirants. Prep has been hit hard. 2nd wave is much worse. Even if interviews are out of the equation holding pre in itself would prove herculean and unwise. And someone shared some info about upsc having large cases itself. Would it be practical? But all we can do is speculate. Unlike last year when coachings like vajiram perhaps came to know about the october dates much before the announcement, this year there isnt any concrete 'insider info'. So we should assume exam will be held in june itself and prep accordingly. Even when chances are high for postponement.

@palindrome7 yep you’re correct, that’s where I took the date from.
I remember seeing a HT article saying something about results being delayed for some months and roughly remembered the year as possibly 2009.

@D503 Anything is possible in UP. If they can conduct panchayat elections during the peak of the pandemic, conducting an exam is no big deal. They might have to suppress the numbers a bit more but that should not be very difficult I guess.
