@mehuifs  Yes, you are correct. I just remembered this explanation somewhere from school, that as kinetic energy increases then, solubility of a gas in liquid decreases, as it becomes more difficult for solvent particles to surround solute particles. I generalized this for solid solutes too. However, it seems that this explanation doesn't work when the solute is solid, as is the case with salt and water. Of course, I forgot that chemistry is not really about learning the rules, or explanations, but the exceptions.

Sorry for the misleading explanation.

Last year around Prelims, someone mentioned about an awesome website where we can practice previous years questions according to related topics.

I have forgotten the name of the site. Can someone please remind me if s/he remembers.

Want to share something from my prelims experience. IMO we should first solve polity questions because it requires carefully reading each and every word. In my Set I had got long 4-5 line questions in the beginning which took time and latter due to time shortage I panicked and hastly attempted polity questions.

"The general elevation of theplateau is from the west to the east, which isalso proved by the pattern of the flow of rivers"

^This is what NCERT says about Peninsular plateau.

Doubt- Doesn't the term 'genal elevation from a to b ' indicate that the plateau increases in elevation/height from a to b. That is b is at a higher elevation than a.

But as we know from the drainage pattern of peninsular rivers that majority of them flow from west to east. That is the western part is higher than the eastern part. So shouldn't the general elevation be from east to west?

Or am I getting it in the opposite sense of what it is?

@AlexanderSupertramp General elevation from a to b here is supposed to mean that the land sloped downward starting from a towards b. I am not sure whether this is some standard definition or usage of the language or not, but it seems pretty clear from the context.

@IamThathey, thanks for the response. Yes, it does seem that way from the text but doesn't it seem a bit counter-intuitive. It would have made more sense if it was about general slope.
Nevertheless, in the next chapter- drainage system, it has discussed the evolution of peninsular drainage.
The first reason that they mention is - "subsidence of the western flankof the peninsula leading to its submergence below sea during the early tertiary period. Generally, it has disturbed the symmetrical plan of the river on either side of the original watershed."

Now does this statement again suggest that the subsidence led to the elevation from west to east (that is west lower with respect to east)?

Anybody...Plz clarify - : My OBC NCL certificate is of 2008 & as per UPSC notification I need to submit the recent one made with the income of last 3 F.Y.s (also, which is made before closing date of application).

I've visited my district collectorate office for recent certificate issue, perhaps will not be able to get the desired certificate before the closing date of the application due to operator strike in my area after trying out hard.

Sir, What do I need to do in such case, can I apply with old certificate that I'm having and get the new one as soon as possible?

Please let me know sir as I'm quite concerned regarding the same.

2 questions:

  1. What is the source of income for Payment Banks?
  2. What are the things that a scheduled commercial 'universal' bank can do but a small finance bank can't?
