[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

How was VisionIAS Abhyas test today?

Broadly found the questions relevant.

Difficulty level did seem high, but it seems that's how Vision makes all its papers.

Found some modern history questions frivolous but that's just me. Let's see what the others have to say.

@Oatmeal Bro Visionias changed its pattern this year. Don’t bother about marks. Actually if you make more mistakes here, you will make less mistakes in actual exam. Don’t worry solve as much possible as you can. You will clear this year. All the best

Hi! I’m finding the vision tests to be too difficult and sometimes the questions are just too obscure. Do I have company? Or I’m the only one.

One test after another is serving to be a major blow to my confidence. I’m thinking of skipping the sectional tests and attempting FLTs. Is it a wise move? Please help!

Full length tests r no different

I never got below 80 in any Vision FLT in my last four years of preparation (although I usually hang around only 90-100). But, have never been able to clear Prelims.

There is something missing .. I can't seem to decipher what.

@RonWeasley UPSC is different..

No tesy matches the dynamism amd the way UPSC frames questions..

This time vision has done a good job.. And can be compared to last year pre.

Clearing pre is more about aptitude than knowledge..

Most mocks tesy knowledge and nkt aptitude.

You need to be logical and have a clear thought process to eliminate options..

Most questions are framed by UPSC in a way so as to make it easy for those wjo have presence of mind in those 2 hours

@mahi2501 Tips on assessing our current aptitude level and aligning it according to the level UPSC demands from a candidate?

1)Good mindset that takes tough qn as an opportunity to inch ahead..

Many aspirants have a negative mindset wrt to tough qn. The moment they see that qn, they think of leaving it, or panic. But we need to see that qn as an opportunity to apply our presence of mind( but don't attempt qn where you don't know anything)..

2)while practicing mocks mark those qn where you had doubt while solving and analyse ur performance in those qn... And think of what was ur thought process while you were solving that..

3)No test comes to match quality of UPSC.. So best way is to analyse previous yr qnon this yard stick..

For example, that MSP wala qn in 2018..

We don't need to know the list of crops where MSP is paid..

Arecanut could have been eliminated logically as it is a sin good..

And never fall for tricks like extreme statements are mostly incorrect, etc..

Preparation from magazines and currenat affair source should not be passive...

For example

While reading pt 365, dont just read it passively..

Be active and take pt 365 as a repository of topics that can be asked in UPSC..

And think about a particular topic in the backdrop of how UPSC asks qn

For example one topic can be oxytocin ban

P t365 only gives good, bad of oxytocin.

But dont limit urself to this..

Also search for other animal hormones that are injected..

This is how i prepare
