Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.
@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?
This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.
Thanks@mahi2501 !! Much appreciated! :)
@RonWeasley ref to Pooja ranawat (rank in 200s-upsc 2017 or 18) video about how she cleared pre first time in her 6th attempt. She mentioned in that she solved close to 100 mock tests so as to gain mastery over solving mcqs. Another videos is of some ips guy (don't know his name) on both next ias and vision where he has dedicated 1hr video for prelims. It's by far the best video for prelims.
I think that IPS guy is Suraj Patel, got his name in CSE holy PDF back to back. Watch Next IAS video, it's comprehensive vision ias one is not.
@Consistency there's also another guy (selected in both IAS and former rbi grade b officer) who posts videos on his own channel. That guy also has very good videos on how to approach prelims. He literally solves pyq papers like 2019 one solely based on simple logic and pre existing knowledge base.
Have nothing but respect for him for his initiative !
But solving a question paper with the benefit of HINDSIGHT is a little too convenient, don't you think ? I mean if you are a veteran who has failed prelims at least once, you must actually have experienced a very peculiar thing - the same question that you attempted wrongly seems like the easiest one after you come out of the exam hall. "arre iss mein kaise galati ho gayi" you would think.
So those tricks and everything is fine upto a limit. Beyond that, practice (of at least 30 tests), the ability to back yourself and take risks where necessary and a calm mind are your allies on the D-DAY !

Hindsight leads to guidence. guidence can be a bliss to those who are seeking it. ofcourse it can be helpful .
Practising PYQ's and mocks repeatedly can sail you through.
@Shubz How are you going about it?
I've done vision tests before the postponement of pre in apr-may....nw im doing forum simulator n vajiram full length tests....i find it much sober than vision
@Shubz 85 plus in FLTs in vision is a good score....
I never got below 80 in any Vision FLT in my last four years of preparation (although I usually hang around only 90-100). But, have never been able to clear Prelims.
There is something missing .. I can't seem to decipher what.
If u can analyse whats stopping u frm crossing the 100 mrks barrier for eg - neglecting topics like medieval hist, natl parks, static concepts of sci n tech etc thn u can come in the range of 100-110.....in my opinion if one is getting 105 plus minus 5 consistently in the full length tests of atleast 2-3 coachings thn the chances of clearing pre increases
Guys, what is a good score in vision full length tests? I am scared bonkers as I am hanging between 80-90. Any experienced players' advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Dnt stick with single coaching tests....do 2-3 full length tests of atleast 2 more coachings....it will help u test urself with diverse ideas of asking the same concepts and also help u evaluate urself btr.
My observations regarding good scores of full length tests of few coachings
Vision - 90-95
Vajiram - 95-100
Insights n forum - 105-110
Based on my experience if one is scoring this much on an avg thn his chances of clearing pre increases.
