[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

HI all.   A bit off topic here. I did download and solve vision ias paper "ADDITIONAL FULL LENGTH TEST – 3330". Is it abhyaas 2 - the additional test that was provided?  Some of the questions are Eurasian economic union, chittagong armoury raid, project monitoring group and so on.  Also, i scored 91.33. Is it good enough??

No that was different...Abhyaas 2 test code is 3001

We have to appreciate those who got more than 120 in this Abhyas test. 😐

Yes, appreciation must be there.

But UPSC is very different, it won't ask such obscure thing like putcut... Naam bhi bhool gaya...

Even if it asks, the triviality will be complemented by a logical framing if options..

And i have seen many who score above 120 to not pass in actual exam.

@mahi2501 true. So many obscured questions. Also final paper is completely different from all these institute valas. Unnecessarily we are tuning our mindset to these institutions made questions and making mistakes in final paper.

Last year I was getting scores in 80s and early 90s in Prelims tests but I ended up getting around 110 in actual Prelims.

The format and type of questions of the actual exam are different from what coaching wallahs ask. So we should take this as a revision test. No point in judging ourselves based on these scores.

Last 2 tests i was scoring above 100. This one I am getting in 60s. I made some really silly mistakes. However this really brings my mood down.

@Equalizer More delay is expected as the EWS cause is still sub-judice in the Delhi HC. 7th September was consequent upon the judgment which was expected last week. The judgment is yet to come.

When can we expect the final verdict?ur sources were correct regarding mains rslt....its a very wrong n disappointing wait

It won't come this week for sure. Let's be hopeful for next week. Indeed, it is frustrating for all of us.

@Sk123 I have given 5 tests till now, scored 100+ in 3 tests but got just 75 around in additional abhyaas and just 60 marks in this latest abhyaas. This test has shattered all my confidence. I have wasted the last 3 hours sulking on the marks and probably will not give any other tests. Will only do previous year papers and will give just one test offline to see whether I am able to mark OMR on time, as time management is very big issue in my case.

@Todd_Chavez Same feeling here. It was really devastating yesterday. Wasted most of my time. Now back to studies. No point sulking I guess.

Happened the same with me. Still not over it, that result felt like failing prelims already to me. Had got 95-105 in the last 3-4 test, thought i was doing okay(atleast average) but yesterday post result back to square one. Wasted 3-4 hours on this yesterday analysing, relooking at the test. small small tricky mistakes i did. But no time to indulge in this. Only option is go on with the exactly same plan. I think I'll keep giving tests because this can't be even one of my last 5 tests before prelims for me to be confident that day. Still would keep fighting. Hope I can maintain the strength.

People, do try giving the tests with your mask on. It is quite frustrating and hand repeatedly touches the face and mask to adjust it. Better to get used to this also beforehand rather than getting frustrated while writing the exam.

Vision Abhyaas tests are not good to judge whether you are exam-ready. They're deliberately made difficult to have you ready for the "unexpected", if at all, the UPSC decides to butcher the aspirants that year with a very difficult paper. Take a chill pill.

If you want to test whether you're exam-ready, Simulator tests are decent benchmark.

I have been trying for  the lastcouple of tests. It is frustrating. I have been using normal double layered mask. Can someone who has experience of mask use for long hours suggest a better mask.

Thanks in advance

Surgical masks are best in that regard, but might not be good for protection purposes. I would recommend use a cheap quality surgical mask inside the examination hall and a good quality N95 before you enter the exam hall.
