[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

Hello dear friends !!

Please help me out ...This is my third attempt 24age and I have failed in my both attempts just because I could not recall the subject that I had read in exam Hall.

This year too inspite of multiple revision I  am feeling low confidence as if I have not studied anything whole year.

Being from middle class this is taking a negative effect on my health and sleep !!

Writing this at 3:45 am

Please help me !!

Hi. Let me tell you 2 instances.

In my 2nd attempt in 2016, I could not make to final list(my interview was on second last day). I had only 18 days for 2017 prelims. And guess what ...I scored 124 in prelims.(cutoff was 105)

In 2019, I prepared for 2 months for prelims..but still could not clear prelims. When answer key came, I did score 106 in gs but failed in Csat.

The main reason was negativity, lack of confidence and lack of proper sleep.

So the conclusion :

1. First , see prelims  just  like a exam.do not equate it with your life.

2.dont think much about result.otherwise this will make you anxious.

3. Solve previous year questions. They are easy and will give you confidence.

4.have trust in preparation. Prelims is not much about knowledge but about mindset.

5. Have belief in your god.

6. Change your routine.one way is to - if you sleep at 4 am then next day sleep at 7 am and  next to next day sleep at 10 am.when you reach normal ...stick to it.

7. Do yoga and meditation for 15 mins.

8. Do not solve hard mock test. And don't calculate your marks.

9. Stick to your study plan and try to recall while revising.

10.remember

"What you think, you become.

What you feel, you attract.
What you imagine, you create."

11. Therefore .. don't let negativity come to your mind. Repeat lines in your mind which can give you confidence. Like ...I have prepared a year with honesty.

For those who are feeling anxious, stressed and sleep deprived, here is a meditation tutorial by the great S.N. Goenka

Meditation won't solve all your problems but it will certainly make you feel better and relaxed, which will make you better equipped to deal with them. Do it for 15-30 minutes twice a day.

Trust me, time spent on it would be completely worth it.

This kind of watch is allowed right?

yes...all analog watches are allowed....but still a lot depends on the supervisor discretion....he may ask to remove it.....u may have to convince him or just remove it but don't let that affect your mental state...

@HarveySpectre it should be allowed, but finally it is up to the invigilator. last year, the invigilator examined my watch for a couple of minutes because it was "too big". the watch in question does nothing but tell the time, no extra dials and all

hello people I need some advice,

This is mylast attempt (penultimate)at UPSCand I have  UP(uttar pradesh) PSC  mains from22 to 26th Sept just 4 days left.(25th is off) I am very confused about it.

Should I skip it or not -the UP PSc mains 2019.Obviously I haven't studies for UP mains exclusively, studying only for prelims right now since this is my last. Means even if i were to appear for UP mains it would be for the sake of appearing right now. I have cleared UPSC prelims before. Friends and family are of the view that i should appear for UP mains as well. You all can relate how everyone says that it is UP mains, you will sail through and all that.

What advice would you give. I am nervous.

I know it will sound very stupid from a person who has this and only attempt in hand, but as i mentioned friends and family want me to give as I have now a guilt that if I leave the mains I would commit a blunder, but another question lingers what if I can't perform in prelims then all these years will go in vain.

All views are welcome brothers and sisters.

PS- anyone here appearing for UP mains?

@Thanos_ My view is similar to other opinions mentioned earlier; appear if you're confident about mains(not prelims). I've seen many who've cleared prelims before do it over and again with less than ideal preparation. It is more of a test of nerves than knowledge past a certain point. So pls do make your decision in regard to your level of mains prep and not otherwise.
Good luck brother!

@Koro-Sensei I just realized that you were asking only about appearing for UP mains and not UPSC. I think I'll be doomed in prelims for answering before reading the whole question. Fml ._.

@Thanos_ exactly I m also in same boat...this is my second last attempt ...also having up mains from 22 sept to 26 sept.. The fact is i have cleared upsc pre 4 times...still I m not able to decide what to do...?
I m not able to make decision .If I  a fails in pre due to up mains...the guilt will make me die...same case here also...my family is indirectly forcing me to give  up mains...they r telling me that..tera pre to nikal hi jayega..but as a aspirant I know csp is  not cake walk..no matter how many times we have cleared in past...also I m,  this time is heavily prepared for upsc mains ...kya karun bhai log...plz suggest something..this lack of decision making is eating me from inside ....the stress  was so severe that I started vomiting in bathroom..

Give UP Mains and UPSC Prelims. This is because you say you are prepared for the UPSC Mains. There will be minimal ex post facto guilt. It is actually a simple choice because it also gives you a higher possibility of success (if you qualify mains) and little guilt. Even if success remains elusive, you live with confidence.

If you miss UP Mains and flunk Prelims, the guilt will be severe. In the second scenario, you end up with a walk of shame in the worst case and nothing else. In a very positive second scenario, you'll have to wait till the UPSC interview result come positive. A long wait + many ifs and buts + the bug of missing UP mains will keep biting all this while.

Even I am appearing for uppcs mains frm 22-26. Even i have not prepared for uppcs mains. I believe if u r confident with ur prelims prep then u should attempt the pcs mains. The prelims prep would definitely help in gs n essay. So technically speaking, u only have to devote 25-26 fr optional prep n paper. 2 days would hardly affect ur upsc prep and that too at a time when all the major prep for pre is already done.

Answer is 2,3,4. Any reduction of expense by govt - or Any source of income -“can be used” to reduce FD.

In such questions always assume that a direct link is being asked. Obviously one can say : More FDI —>Growth —>Tax —>less FD. But in such questions always direct link should be taken into account.
