[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Bawra man No dear only optional is complete with 60% and honestly I have not written a single essay .  in short mains is not done with command !!
Believe me for a candidate like me its a headache whenever I talk to my family because of financial constraints and other issue .
My heart is saying to give uppcs  diligently and then appear for Upsc 2021 which is just 8 months away .
With my preparation I can say that I can make it through uppsc  but not Upsc this year .
Living in Patel Nagar , delhi is already a high expense for me and I don't how to convince my short temper father that I am not appearing for Upsc 2020 after studying for whole year !!
Please help me out !!

Try to convince him about higher chances in UPPSC...... U can tell him that by giving both paper there is higher chances that end result will not b favorable in both....... I hope he will understand it.... Unhe bharosa dilao ki tum PCS mai final selection tk lene ka dum rakhte ho is baar....

@Freakhoto I think you are sorted bro. Any consistent score above 85 is okay IMO. Max you can do at this moment is PYQ's of CSAT! Rest you are doing well!
I flunked CSAT because I did not solve a single question last year, let alone mocks. You have already done the work bro!

@Lbsnaa2021 See, for UPPCS, you might be wanting to focus on Static portion more if I am not mistaken?
Why not focus it right now only for UPSC as well. Revise history and polity alongside geography. That's 35 questions in PT. Most of the aspirants revise static in the last week anyway. You can do the same. Do it, sit for UPSC. Who knows you might go through. If not, you haven't compromised on your UPPCS preparation.

Hi guys, English comprehension is only becoming quite complex year after year....many a times my answers in comprehension won't match with upsc answer keys...

Is there any shortcut for solving assumption, inference questions

My scores in CSAT has been above 160 in all the 3 attempts, and thus want to share some insights..

1) The toughness of RC has been progressively increasing..

RC's are like meetha choori,(sweet knife)..

Looks tempting, and easy compared to quant, but there is high risk of marking them incorrect.UPSC is asking classic CAT type queations, like, Infer, assumption, etc.. Which require accurate understanding of the passage and ability to differentiate our own knowldege from the information in passage.

Look at every passage as a new piece of information completely detached from what one knows amd then try to come to a cocnclusion...

So in all, if you are decent or above average in quant, its better to focus more in quant..

But for someone not so good in quant and LR, the best strategy should be to be selective in RC and avoid those questions where the options have very minor differences..

All in all don't take RC to be a low hanging fruit.. It can be very dangerous..

Though its quite late to polish quant skills, but if possible, solve as much as of quant, LR and DI...

@Warrior100 there  is no shortcut...

Problem arises only when we mixup our own knowledge with knowlede in the passage.. Avoid doing that by taking the passage at its face value, completely detached from ur own knowledge.

Hello wonderful people just needed you honest suggestion :

I am 24 graduated from tier 3 university (B.a) failed last two attempt in prelims only by minor marks only and this year still I don't feel confidence because it seems I have not revised very well and I am.lagging behind . Although being a serious aspirant studied throughout the year but inner voice is telling the truth that your syllabus is not revised very well .

Being from.UP I have my uppsc pre on 11 Oct.and my inner instinct is telling that if you give 15 days to up pcs  you will qualify .

Being a jobless from humble background where no support system is there just wanted to ask should it would be wise to focus on uppcs  and prepare for Upsc 2021 with lesser stress as relief some family pressure .

Long story short I am confident for uppcs  2020 but not for Upsc 2020 .

Should I give uppcs  2020 with full dedication and then aim Upsc 2021 ....

Please help me out .

@Lbsnaa2021 I was going to sleep when I saw your comment and I am here to help you dear friend. I cleared the PCS 2018 of UP and have achieved a very good rank. But your and mine stories are the very same. I have failed twice in the prelims of 2018 (by margin of 0.67 marks) and 2019. I am also in NOT in the frame-of-mind to give this year's paper of UPSC as I am not feeling in the groove cause of the celebrations and some laxity post the result.

If you want to focus on 11th october and want to leave 4th october exam, go for it. Prepare all the PCS affairs and try to crack PCS 2020. And yes, even my father now throw tantrums for not giving paper on 4th october but at last it is me and not my father who have to fill that Red OMR in exam. Also one more failure will break my heart more.

One more thing, I know several people who have cleared PCS 2018 but are not giving this year's paper coz of the very same reason.

So brother, do what your heart-mind says, after 11th october, take some rest and Gear up for 2021 and than live up to your username.

Hello Everyone,

A little off topic question I apologize in advance (couldn't find any other relevant thread), I am a newbie in this field and have started preparing for 2021. I want to opt for a Mains Test series along with an optional test series (PSIR). There are multiple options in the market from Vision, GS Score, Insights and ForumIAS as well; various options for PSIR as well. Would be great if you could guide me as to which test series to opt for. I will choose the online variant as I live in Moradabad, UP.

Thanks andAll the very best to each of you for Prelims 2020. May the force be with you!

It's a new day, and here I come bearing positivity and hope. :P

As the exam closes in on us, it is possible that a paralyzing fear that "maybe l have got this all wrong" may affect the best of us. Residual calmness may give way to last-minute panic. In times like these, it's always best to take a moment to appreciate and not underestimate the good work that you have done over the past year or so. Understand that the cause for the misfortune that you suffer right now has not even happened yet. The progress that you have made during the course of your preparation is immeasurable, least of all by a mock test, so do not reduce yourself for any reason whatsoever. The past is only as real as the future, and all that is within your control is actually this moment. So, lose all that heavy baggage you carry. We preach faith in Gods and Goddesses, but rarely find ourselves capable of keeping faith in ourselves. Sunday is another day, just like today is and tomorrow will be. All you can control on any of those days is how you act.

The process is everything.

Here's a song as promised:

Written during the time of the Holocaust as a ballad of hope!

@mahi2501 Can you tell me how you approach this assumption type questions in short passages of csat?

I score well in quant and long passeges but this assumption type questions are becoming a headache.
