[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@vivekdeshmukh1504 we are on the same page buddy. I meant I would have marked more D's then you would have thought.

What I learned from this exam: the conventional/traditional method of studying is just not gonna cut it. Instead we are going to have to study in a manner where we understand all aspects related to various topics in current affairs and static. Then just hope that the reasoning you use with that knowledge is correct.

No wonder this exam is such a lottery at every stage. Always has been and always will be. Fools are those who sit at home staking their entire careers on an exam where the unknown element of chance will have a significant impact on your chances at every stage relative to any other exam in the world(probably?)

Very less attendance in centres dan last year..did upsc increase no of centres or attendance was less truly?

Upsc DID NOT increase centers, at least not in Kerala. With the kind of social distancing that's followed in my center, the only way people are not catching corona is if corona felt sorry seeing the plight of aspirants

No social distancing, weird paper, too many Ds, set A -  apparently easy questions were in the beginning but I started from the last question because of previous year's experience. 🤦 Too little time left for economy and I had to hurry which will probably lead to many silly mistakes.

There were so many D's that you could have probably guessed D on questions you didn't know and it would have been right lol

I threw up 3 times before the exam(anxiety probably) and then I saw the paper which happened to be set-C and then I requested the invigilator that I wanted to go to washroom and threw up once again..Attempted only 65 ques...So no chance...Anyway all the best for csat

Those who clear prelims this time. Give everything you have for the mains. You never know when will you get another chance.

As of now I am regreting that I couldn't clear mains last year or more importantly did not make to the final list (which wasn't possible without clearing earlier one)

Paper was lengthy. Agriculture and science and technology this segment will be key to qualify this time. Randomness in ancient india and art and culture brings in difficulty for the paper.

Lesser attendence as compared to last year..

Anyone who has attempted 80 to 85 questions has a very good chance, expect for those who have gone with their heart and gut feeling.

Cut off will be not reduce significantly, may drop marginally. I will still go for 95 to 100 range for general candidates.

Just my personal opinion, feel free to ignore.
