[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@MrJ I agree. Even Daddy's Car song doesn't make any sense.

Now, coming to transfer of wireless electricity. AI can help optimise induction charging. But it doesn't mean that, AI can literally do the wireless transmission of electricity.
Therefore answer should be 1,3,4@Equalizer

@Punjabi_Snow_Leopard 93-102 k beech kuch bhi ho sakti hai bhai.....zyadatar coaching wale 98 k neeche h bta rhe hai. kuch to 95 max bata rhe hain.

Just want the experienced candidates to clarify if institutes usually keep the cut off low to attract students to mains centric courses or this year is the first time they've put the cut off in the early 90s?

No dear. As I already said last year vision predicted 95 to 105.

Shankar predicted 99 to 102. They are very conservative in lowering cut off Same in 2017, 18. Due to cognitive bias... competition is too tough, so many brilliant students bla bla bla.

Which part of the Constitution of India declares the ideal of Welfare State?

(a) Directive Principles of State Policy (b) Fundamental Rights (c) Preamble

Almost every key says that the answer is (a). I differ from this. This is because of the use of the term "Ideal".

Ideal indicates values (ought to be). These values are declared in Preamble and not in DPSP. What is given is DPSP are sort of operating principles/guidelines for implementing the constitution.

To substantiate further, Ideals of welfare state means "policy goals" of the welfare state - ie. eco & soc justice, liberty etc. DPSP contains the "policies tools" for fulfilling these goals.

Therefore, the ideal of welfare state is declared in Preamble and not in DPSP. I hope it makes sense.

Yes. I would anyway trust Vision more. But considering the arbitrariness of the paper, it's best to ignore the noise and get to work if we're 90+

That's y they mentioned meaningful short stories, effectively, at the present level of development. As I already said if they had just asked what are potential uses all would be correct. But i must confess I had not noted all those words like effectively during exams. I just thought wireless transmission is not possible.

86 OBC. Any chance? Please tell me as I have other plans of joining MBA and my student fee would be locked.

@onionsalad @Equalizer @starks I googled query "AI can write meaningful stories and songs"  to check if I can find some article having this line, from where UPSC could have picked it up, but all the search results are articles that are highlighting theineffectiveness of the present state of AI. I think UPSC could have picked it up from one of these news articles. So I think the answer might be option B.

Why these days are so depressing?? Is here anyone who's feeling the same? I'm not able to connect with anyone after the exam. As if the purpose for which i was working hard for many months has ceased to exist! As if somebody snatched something out of my hands. And i could do nothing but watch like an idiot.

@Kachua_🐢 you're just speaking my mind friend. This Prelims was just about luck and mad guessing (especially the irritating "all of the above trick""). Hardwork is futile. I have seen friends who didn't know Welfare State is under DPSP getting the sugarcane and Pala-Pratihara chronology correct by guessing. It's ridiculous, frustrating and really depressing. Truly it has been snatched away...

After seeing answer keys of 4 institutes and extensive googling, I have finalised own key. And getting measly 86 OBC marks. Now I have to take a call to leave my 4 year old UPSC dream (3 Mains) and taking up MBA. And preparing for another Prelims is not an option as I'm severely depressed now.

My entire career and life depends on a good reply. Please advise me friends, I beg you 🙏🙏

But many of the all of the above will be incorrect in official key.
