[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

Because of the corona virus issue? If it does not happen then worst affected will be people whose interview is stuck, around 600-700 such people I think are yet to appear for their interview.

@neyawn sir and others, what is your take?

This is the official Thread for discussion of Prelims Postponement, Please do not create new threads for the same.

@Great_Indian_Custard cutoff can very eell be around 105, becausr many  100+ didnt clear, one my OBC friend with 98+ didnt clear. If 98 OBC not cleared than certainly general cutoff is not less than 100

@kartikeybhatt171778 My hunch is the same.cutoff is way past 98. It is definitely more than 104.5. may be it is 106 or 107 so ething. I am so pkwsed because last year my score was 128.

Cut off is 96-98. But according to upsc key. There are variations in coaching keys.

That's why many 100+ and csat safe candidates didn't clear. I am telling because a friend of mine with 95 general cleared.

@srk1031147 Tukkebazi is an integral part of Prelims now a days. But hardwork has no substitution.  Also tukkebazi is game for confident guys like people who have jobs, recently passed out from IITs,IIMs, etc. Also includes those whose parents are big guns. People like me whose entire dream was based in UPSC CSE can't afford tukkebazi ...so lost prelims. sigh!

Hard work.

Tukkebazi don't work. Only those who has worked hard can do guesswork.

@Equalizer well to be honest I worked really hard for this exam and was able to do 40 questions with 100% accuracy.  Rest was based on guess work. So didnt qualify.

People who are now going berserk and citing 100+ as cutoff are missing a SIMPLE point that they have flunked CSAT. A mere difference of 3 Questions of CSAT b/w official keys and the one provided by coachings will lead to a difference of approx 10 marks. Means anyone getting less than 85 marks may still not make it. Whether you make it or break it entirely depends on 5-6 RC questions. I hope this helps.

Did not find my number in the PDF. It's rare for me. Could not care less because this time, I still have my job. Did the mistake of preparing without one in 2018. Got smart since then. Would I have cleared had I prepared without a job? Maybe. I have done so many times. With jobs, without it. But people don't realise the odds have to be on their side in mains and interview as well. You are not special enough to think you would clear this exam. Nobody is. The toppers are a minority and they aren't as smart as you think. Just lucky. That's all. Be prudent. Do not gamble your life away. Move on. Failed? Hit the gym, read uplifting novels, spend time with family, friends and girlfriend, take a trip, sleep, get a job but most importantlydo not hopeto clear the exam in the next attempt. It's a maybe. Just like the reading comprehension in CSAT. All the best.

What BS!! It's the dumbest thing I've read in a long time. And there is nothing called tukkabaazi. I've said this before... There is a method to the madness. I'm not saying it's easy, but it comes down to logic. For a pure tukkabaaz, probability will be the ultimate leveller.

There's a difference between an educated guess and idiotic guess. The former comes with deeper knowledge/information and the latter is futile exercise.

@srk1031147 You know much more than you think you do which makes you a valuable asset in any line of work. Join as a fresher if it has to be done. Ain't as bad. One page at a time after that. It will work.
