Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread

@LonewolfFeel good karne ke liye. But, people like me
are deprived of that feeling too seeing such awesome scores being predicted.
Let's just wait for the results

@Lonewolfyar marsk ka prediction karne jitna koi bhi precision la nahi sakta, gut feeling based upon answers written is what matters, cutoff se kam mark tabhi ata hai jab koi paper kharab hua ho, paper kharan to nahi hua koi isliye bola 800 plus seems possible to say of rank and all is illogical and irrational,
paperwise last year se marks badhne ke bhot chances nazar ate hai, but last year f'up has taught me some papers need to be exceptional plus marking is vague esoecially gs papers, my answrrs were good in paper 1 but still got in 70s in paper 1 gs, but this time i have 2 excellent papers to overcome such patterns of vagaueness marking scheme, but we never know.

I had the option to speak wrong speak vague but i was specific in my response about gut feeling, but the inference is not rank or top score but hope of surity of interview call rest all is baseless

Interview pe depend nahi rehna hai to 50marks more than cut off jaruri hai..

Sirf cut off clear hua 4-5 marks se to interview 200+ chahiye for rank

@Lonewolflast year i predicted 790 800 around for myself , failed to clear mains by less than 10 marks,
becoz of less marks awarded in gs paper 1 comapred to my expectations, and straight 105 in essay.
i had no solace in other subjects as well like they were average score gs 2 3 me badha nahi score average se ya expectation jitna hi aya,
only anthro scores were on expected lines (jo generally sahi hi ate hai jo hum expect karte hai usse plus minus 5).

@Haeckeldil bahlane ke liye khayal acha hai ghalib, i saw on quora that a guy with 840 plus marks failed to be in final list, what do we know bhavishya me kya likha hai

@shubhamsatyam22484 there are 300 plus people who crossed 800 mark last year and 1200 peple who crossed this mark in 2017,
calling that as something great is not justifiable

@vvvikas0078212yes i got 30-35 less marks compared to expetationz due to less marks awarded in gs 1(shocker) and essay

@shubhamsatyam22484 ye congress waalon ne 2014 election ke samay se hi opinion polls and exit polls ka boycott start kiya tha if I am not wrong ...But that did not change the actual results that came on 16 th MAY 2014,or 23rd MAY 2019..They were not ready to accept the ground realities..
Likewise ,every year, there are people who do exceedingly well in papers ,however the tough paper may be..Denial mode me humesha nhi rhna chahiye. .

forum has become useless with no constructive activity, unlike forum in past.
open, honest and clear presentation of thoughts lead to ridicule and untoward addreesses,
question discuss mat karo, answer mat likho, marks expexted mat batao with or withiut reason, aur karna kya hai kuch nahi,
i put 800 plus as my expected score most people seem to become pessimist aur ander ki bat to ye hai ki kayi log inme se khud hope lagaye baithe hai aise score ka.
This msg is not targetted against any individual, i am talking systemic issue here. plz free to comment.

Its probably because they were not able write quality answers themselves,they assume no else can or even if they have written assume it to be fake!
People who were sure of flunking prelims came here and called all those confident of clearing prelims as chance takers/guessers!

@vvvikas0078212essay gs 1 paper wapis aayenge to badh sakta hai, on account of that, 10 percent ews will lead to cutoff increase for ur category, sala ias me bhi samasya hai as 72 seats only for ur,
for ur - 770 780 ke bich lag raha,
obc and esw - 40 marks less,
sc st like wise furthet 20 marks less

@vvvikas0078212bhai ,aap apne predictions bataoge nhi to koi cut off kaise predict kar sakta hai...In mains,at max one can do is to predict his/her marks...That too depends on various factors..

Ab koi honestly apne predicted marks batata hai to log ridicule karne lag jaate hain..Ye kya matlab hai..

@LonewolfI too had predicted I will get cutoff plus 40 in 2016, but cleared only by cutoff plus 15..uske bad prediction krna chhod diya..ab bas hope h and interview ke liye 180+ ki prep krni h

Got 786 in 2017...20 odd marks short of cuttoff...I feel if there is liberal marking like 2017 in GS, completing paper would play a big role in getting that boost. Hence a person leaving 2-3 Questions per paper would be at a loss of 8-10 marks. Across 4 GS it translates to 30-40 marks, which was a game changer. Didn't appear in 2018, but I feel the marking was not as liberal like 2017 and GS marks got squeezed, hence completing paper do not give you that additional edge of 30-40 marks.

Having said that 800+ definitely would be required irrespective of the checking pattern to get a rank. Last year hardly 1-2 guys made it to rank in UR category with below 800 marks.

Hopefully many of us should make it through.
