Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

@sat_009Tbh, old forum had more active users. So bakar and relevant content, both, were in abundance. The level that people stooped to pehle was much lower and much more shameful. I remember people used to call a certain section "frock gang". Certain users had a propensity to post ashleel chitr and instances of ad hominem attacks were much more. Atleast new forum hasn't fallen to that level yet.
@sat_009Unlike 2017 where I left questions in GS, completed the paper this time around. Satisfied with my overall GS attempt albeit not many good answers in GS 2. Optional being Anthro -Paper 1 went much better than 2017 but Paper 2, was tending to GS answers in many. Hoping for a liberal marking in paper 2 as in most humanities subject. 2017 score - 130 + 376 + 281.

That is because people are aware that at least to some level their anonymity will be maintained till the point they do not violate the law.

@sat_009From my experience of last year's mains, even only one phenomenal paper in GS and rest all including optional papers even slightly above average are enough to not only get you an interview call but also propel you to +40 marks cushion for Interviews.
Our real marks can and most definitely vary from our expected marks in individual papers but the overall marks are usually around our self predicted score if we are really being honest. I guess it's time people on this thread actually stopped bickering among ourselves and put all this energy to some constructive use. Interview ain't cakewalk either.

@Brickmissed cut off by 6 marks in 17 and 7 marks in 16 ..Didn't mappear in 18..In 17,my marks were 356+149+292(gs+essay+optional)...Was totally screwed in gs-1 and gs-4 ,got 84 and 72 only ..Average marks in the remaining two gs papers
This year,have done much better in gs-4 ,not screwed gs-1 at least ..Done well in gs-2 and average performance in gs-3 ..

Relevant content generation was next to nil except 1-2 threads. Bad content drives out good content. There is more to learn from this Mains thread than all of forum discuss content generated in 6 months.

@sat_009I feel the 2018 pattern was much better than 2017 as there is consistency across all GS paper. 2017 there were exceptional cases such as GS 3 being rewarded like anything and GS 4 being battered for no reason. Such differentiation is not a good trend. Expecting 2018 pattern at least in GS. Although Essay will see an increase than last time. Optional I feel have been marked liberally since 2016 and expect the same...

@rootBut isn't that because you guys made a conscious effort to migrate users from there to here. I remember, as recently as april 2019 (when results were declared), there was more buzz on discuss forum than here. Even that thread had relevant content. I remember one user named sirvivtheswagger posted his marks (he had scored around 840's in Mains and had gotten 116 in his sixth and final attempt). Point being, if not for discuss forum, I wouldn't have learnt of such candidates.
Agreed, it has decayed over the past six months, but that is because there is a conscious decision on your part to promote quest. And not that there is anything wrong with that (Seinfeld fans hifive :p). OTP and other stuff here ensures notty raja type elements are kept at bay.
