Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@Champakbroadly i think everyone's answers match...but i cud not mention thinkers in linguistics(10 marker) and also cud not connect functionalism etc to ethnicity and communalism etc etc. 1st mains...probably doomed
@zombielandbasic thinkers are necessary and appropriate... again quoting too mny thinkers one can miss what the queation is asknv about
@foxmulderi can guess whom u r hinting at
.. lets see
@foxmulderajit pawar
@ranyo_asokayes theoretical points are most imp e.g case srudies and thinkers should not be too many, in limited space and time it may lead to extreme scores, if examiner understand context very high marks if he feels everything i hifi and beat around the bush one may get very less too
@Caesarnyc..added new point to the teaching

Mains 2019 Discussion (Live).pdf
"With reference to the somatoscopic and morphometric characteristics commonly
used for racial classification, make critical comments as to whether ‘Race’ is a valid
concept."
In this question the author has taken a very difficult approach of taking each criteria and pointing out exceptions, it may work for few like heigh/skin colour but difficult to stretch it to 5-6 criteria.
"“Applied human genetics has come to touch every sphere of human life.”
Discuss in light of recent advances in molecular anthropology."
In this question I've taken a broader approacher focused on applied human genetics while the answer suggests that molecular anthropology is restricted to ancestral linkages, not sure till what extent my answer is appropriate
@DijkstraMost answers in this pdf are either too good or not possible in exam to write with such precision,
at times the body is there but the heart is not,
Anthropology is a theoretical subject, simple write up fetches good marks, and not bombardment of thinkers theories and so much stuff which even evaluator may not read in details.
When i see epg pathshala profs most likely of same level as that of upsc evaluator i find them as easy going and simple people and not some theorist who would want such detailed answers in limited space and time.
But the effort to compile these answers and the knowledge of the author is commendable, kudos to her.
@Dijkstrain molecular anthropology applied genetics answer i think the author has moved beyond syllabus, apne syllabus me applied genetics me jo molecular techniques hai uspe hi jyada focus karna tha, plus their importance for human origins, development and variations etc.
last year 10 marker question on recent molecular techniques was on same lines i feel
@Dijkstrain somatoscopic and morphometric questions I mentioned classification on basis of heath-carter system+ hair colour+ nose size+head size with corresponding race ie Caucasoid+mongoloid+negroid
Then Boyd criteria of classification of races i.e not affected easily by environment n so on. Since these critieras do not satisfy Boyd criteria race is not valid+ human genome project study+ UNESCO statement.
@sat_009refer to the test copies of koya Shree Harsha. He has used simple language n content from standard text books without overdose of thinkers. I was in Vaid Ics. I had seen most of the answers of Akshay Jain. They r simple n too the point.
Answers give in answer key is only to awe members of telegram group. Whne I see telegram group I think many of them are considering anthropology optional as equivalent to phd
@princessconsuela488Is any model answer available for Political Science optional?
@zombielandI hope for my sake that this is true.
@sat_009yeah it is unrealistic to expect such knowledge heavy answers reproduced in mains, in past 2 years i’ve gone through nearly every topper copy/notes and almost all of them write standard stuff (with variation in presentation and few case studies)
@zombielandMy answer is on similar lines
