@Scorpion888maybe.. if they fail to clear general cutoff for prelims and don't have EWS certi before stipulated date..
However there would be hardly a margin of 0.5 marks i guess

@ranahere999mains me difference aa jayga yar main thing is that,
another issue is, there are only 73 ur seats for ias, usme se atleast 5 obc, 3 sc st will take seats,
and ews ke bhi kam nahi hai, they will also get high marks( ews are nothing but general cateogory ppl with income below 8 lakhs) ews will take around 25 to 30 in my opinion in top 70, so infact general unreserved person is fighting for everything and chances for his getting ias have declined by atleast 50 percent i am tensed as ensuring rank under 70 is very tough, plus i dont want to repeat the cycle anymore

@ranyo_asokaalmost 150 students from ews were
unable to appear to mains bcoz they didn't possess certificate in due date and couldn't clear general cutoff...Thus present ews mains appeared students have already less 150 candidates and that too in mains..

@sat_009reserved category can take general seats only if they clear all stages of exam including prelims via general cutoff.. i think an SC candidate clearing prelims cut-off of only SC snd not general should not be allowed to opt for general seat based only on mains+interview final result.
Though i am unsure if upsc considers prelims score while alloting UR vacancy to SC/OBC candidate if they score high enough in mains.

@vijay_on_missionmeans they clered prelims on ews but dint get hallticket of mains due to no certificate?

@vijay_on_missionDAF had the option of opting NOT in possession of EWS, hence everyone was able to attempt mains(including me) though it was subject to clearing Gen cutoff in prelims.. for which i got confirmation email today.

@ranahere999Prelims is definitely considered. Tina Dabi took SC seat, not general due to low score in pre

@ranahere999s its true, use of reservation at any stage of exam by candidate makes him/her to be alloted only category seat and not UR seat. eg- tina dabi, though her marks in mains and interview are top, by virtue of clearing prelims in sc category she was not alloted UR seat as per my knowledge

@ranahere999see 95 percent of ews will clear general cutoff for prelims hardly 2 3 marks difference, see ews guys have always been topping in all and bagged high ranks, 10 percent reservation is just additional help for them,
now if we look, many ews will clear all stages by clearing general cutoff and will lead to less seats for general this time

@ranahere999one of my friend has not got mail, he was unable to produce the doc written no in ews option and written mains should he be worried,
he has also been part of the letter movement to upsc for extension

@sat_009yeah.. but this year the difference would be huge due to delay in getting EWS certificates or some people being unaware of that deadline of 31 july(like me).
So those who got EWS on time are Lucky..
