@vijay_on_missionyar bus rank ka issue hai, dekho rank ya list me ana interview par dependent hai aur mains me bhi kayi subject ke marks me thoda luck ka role hota hai, so its not east to get even 80th rank on a very bad no matter what efforts we put in, and consider if we get that 80 rank still not getting ias will bring down the energy and morale

actually, I don't think more than 15% of the people giving mains would be from EWS. 50% were already from reserved categories. And out of the rest, some were disqualified, as some people mentioned. Still more have now been moved into the general category. Getting an EWS certifificate would have been very difficult so fast, more so where government departments are inefficient. Mostly the handful people of influence in their localities would have managed. Their selection (not necessarily IAS, but name in the list), I think is etched in stone now.

@ranahere999There was some issue of a case in CAT being resolved one day before the mains and manually some people were made to fit in at the centers for mains this year ( I know it was done at UPSC Bhavan). Any idea what was that about? Something about EWS?

@foxmulderIn my opinion, extension should be given to ews till last day of mains paper, as procedures should not derail the intent,
if only 25 percent are able to avail the benefit of ews this year, it will give undue advantage to those who had ews certificate, i myself saw poor and needy people unable to get ews from rural and poor background and those who are only legally ews and not informally were with ews before the needed date.
I can't avail ews as my parents are in service, but discussing it as a case study.

@sat_009it would be unfair to people who didn't apply in ews, thinking that their certificates couldn't be made on time. Similarly it is more unfair to people who didn't seek extension and settled with either ur or disqualified status. They should have got certicafe by then (last mains date)

@foxmulderbhai upsc bhawan me to bhot strict tha mahaul, kuch log ko to 1:55 pe entry nahi mila how desperate one guy was when he was denied entry, poor fellow i feel for him, my frnd who accompanied me for mains, she tried to calm him outside centres he was literally cryin

@sat_009Yeah I am not talking about that. Some people's roll numbers were manually written on the seating arrangement and I had read in news somewhere that some people won a case to be allowed in the mains exam and that UPSC had to issue them admit cards one day before mains. Regarding what you are saying, I had the window seat and in compulsory language paper, 3-4 candidates could not get entry ( came at 9:02 I believe) and their parents almost came to blows with the security guys. Too much chaos. Saw it.

Yeah exactly. If they give anymore extensions, it would be grossly unfair. Plus I know a lot of genuine EWS guys who couldn't get EWS certificates because the officials were clueless how to issue them.

@foxmulderthis late entry scene is pretty bad.
I became a victim of it recently in some other exam.
I have seen people crying and abusing.
Leave alone UPSC these TCS guys are way above them.
Evn after u gain entry for online exam u Will sit idle for atleast 45mins but they will not allow entry half an hour before
