Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

I think 100 and above consistently in vision generally does reflect in good marks in mains too. There are a few exceptions who score lesser in tests and still do good in final exams, but yeah consistently good marks in test series does reflect to an extent in upsc.
True, I have hardly encountered anyone consistently scoring 100 in vision and performing badly in mains. Well yeah, there are exceptions, but those are rare.
@atuljiI earnestly hope you're right and I am proved wrong

I do have examples of people score 90+ consistently in test series and receiving 65 in gs1, 82 in gs2 type marks...
@Biryanimafia_ I agree the questions this year were no where from the coaching materials. But then, the marks which one scores in test series is not just based on content (which again i agree is mostly from their own material). They award you marks also for structuring, presentation and stuff which all helps in improving one's ability to handle the unknown questions which UPSC asked this year. I am not saying 100+ consistently ensures one's selection, but it does give huge advantage vis-a-vis others.
@utkarsh_mishrayes, I do see your point. I just have a hard time accepting Vision scores and UPSC scores as linked in any way...Once bitten, twice shy.
@TETRACYCLINEVision abhyas mei kya score rehta tha bhaiyon (jinhone diya tha iss baar)
@zombielandmostly people do that, reading model answers, taking breaks etc. This person is a good friend, didn't do those things but yes, he did give most tests at his room instead of centre..still I don't think it would matter so much so to reduce 30 marks across papers, considering many toppers also write from home..
@K_9
gs 1 80 gs 2 90 gs 3 70 gs 4 90

I think the key is to find the median not the mean (of test scores) in Vision tests.
There is a huge variation in marks awarded by evaluators in tests series. Some correct the copies very liberally and others very harshly. In the end there is a huge 40-50 marks gap between your lowest and highest score. In these scenarios the mean is distorted by these highest and lowest marks.
so, finding a 10 mark window in which most of your marks lie is a good way of finding your optimum test series score score.
for eg in Kataria's case the window is around 97-105 marks, ignoring the effect of his highest and lowest marks.
@ranyo_asoka60 toh thoda zyada lag rha hai bhai..! But some people spend 30 mins with a test and count it attempted toh kuch bol nhi sakte...
'17 mains se pehle, result k baad gs ke 28 ke around, (insight vision vaji) and optional k 8 likhe the... but sabse kam bhi mere gs mein hee aye
sab moh maaya hai
@ST
Kyunki sabhi ko pata hai ke sabhi ka wo 3 case studies khatab hua hai so no tension
@pysh12950correct.. but I meant my comment for mains test series only, (not whole upsc prep., strategy or likelihood of selection) I definitely believe it's farcical and borderline fraudulent.. Next attempt onwards, will practice pyq of 5 years but won't join any test series
@dr-ahmednaaz8567Pub ad walo ka bhi bekaar gya hoga ?
What do you think ?
@Ravstrue that buddy. Read/revised it this time also, but now will spend more time with pyq instead of model answer by xyz
