Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

@bevancomHow did u gauge your performance after exam? Isn't directly writing in exam risky.

@vvvikas0078212i guess he has already given a mains before....aur agr ques ans format me prepare kia ho syllabus toh exm me pprs complete ho jate hai with decent quality without much ans writing practice

@vvvikas0078212I gauged it on the basis of number of questions I knew very well and came directly from my notes.
Yes it's risky but 1 thing I learned in my entire life is to listen to everyone but at the end of the day trust on oneself and ones own guts.
I have never done what others say I have always done what I feel is right.
I was told in jee prep to do this do that,I didn't do it and managed to score a decent rank.
Post that I was told to do this and that for mba,join coachings etc.,I didn't do managed to get 750 in gmat get admission in one of the best b school in the world but didn't join it.This despite the fact people telling me future exams r difficult and bird in hand is worth 2 in bush.
Post that people told me join coaching and test series for cat,I didnt join but managed to get a decent score.
Post that people told me to join mocks for interview,I didn't join and managed to clear all 9 calls which I had.
In the meantime gave ssc and bank exams as well and managed to get rank a good rank in ssc and got a post ias bank po in sbi .People told me to join them but did'nt.
Within 2 months in iim realized that corporate is not for me and decided to prepare for upsc with mba studies.Classmates who were from few of the best engineering colleges much better than mine and srccs and Hansrajs and had given upsc before but couldn't clear told me not to jump in this as it's unpredictable and clearing pre with b school studies and without mock tests is impossible.Didn't listen to them and prepared with b school and without a single mock test and managed to clear pre.
Post b school people told me not to study sociology the way I did and better join a coaching for test series for sociology and for gs for guidance and go to delhi.Did'nt listen and prepared from my home.
People here r not believing me.Maybe u will also not believe.
But I have always done what I felt is right and would do so again in the future as I have observed very closely(someone very close to heart and family) how not following one's heart and mind and listening to others could also lead to someone taking their life after plunging in chaos and uncertainty and deprivating their own abilities.
I don't know if I will clear the exam but I would again follow my heart and not what somebody else is saying..
