This move in itself seems justified. A lot of us become complacent after clearing a single exam and what we see on the field is that young officers have little knowledge of the job and have to rely on the advice of their, often unscrupulous, subordinates.

@RealMangoI messed up the 10 markers in paper 1. Found them to be really difficult and time consuming. Same for paper 2. Can't say how will the marking be. Likha to kaafi Kuch hai usmein.
My GS actually went fine. I am scared optional might ruin my chances.

Adding FC marks may open the process to individual biases. Reminds me of college, where some students did well in vivas mainly because of the way they presented themselves & not the real knowledge. You may know better, shed some light on it.

@CaesarYes, you are right. More than how one presents themselves, FC marks will be awarded by the course team under the course director based on "extraneous factors". FC trainers and directors are highly prone to be pressurized or politicized. UPSC, despite all its drawbacks, has by and large maintained its independence. We at least know that the system is equally fair or unfair to all.

Even a 10% weightage to FC marks(as DoPT proposed in its OM) will give an unprecedented power to LBSNAA/MCR directors, serving officers in the government, to change service allocation. Highly unfair to deserving candidates.

@TETRACYCLINEnhi Bhai. In anthropology the one who got362 her copy is out of league. Her content is not covered in normal books that anthropology candidates refer. She was a completely different case

@TETRACYCLINEwe must understand that only one girl got such marks in anthro last year, it means she had extremely good quality, as uske bad second third 330s me hai, We must remember even people get 325 in pub ad or geo, it does not mean everyone will get it,
i feel the tremendous growth in anthro numbers will put it down this year, if somehow this year bach gaye to agla year to pakka katega anthro ka,
people may disagree but i am telling as per upsc ways in past
