Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@ChampakTrue, this step in itself might be fair to some extent but their ultimate motive is what scares me. it might open up for partial nepotism while allocating services. gotta get in with cse'19 itself

so upsc need to find a new way,
me and my frnd (junior) 1s discussed he said all his frnds switching to anthropology,
i told him, aisa na ho 2020 me anthro me hi kate we never know..

@TETRACYCLINEI dont understand if anthro people are getting good marks why they are upscaling it,
either the scaling does not exist or these people at upsc are blind and irrational
@sat_009i think taking anthropology is in itself not a big advantage. Last year my i had prepared decently with average content I got 253. After failing in mains I again s worked on my content till March end. N then again started mugging up soon after prelims.
I think this much time if given to other optional will also yield good result. I also took anthropology with the belief that it has small syllabus. but like me many ignore that it needs lot of cramming which compensates the time. N if one is not good @ cramming anthropology will not add any advantage.
Now i realise if i had taken mathematics or chemistry optional in initial attempts i may had failed but with attempts marks would have improved. In anthropology there is no such guarantee. Ignore mugging part. Marks will get reduced to avaerage.
So while taking anthro optional only small syllabus should not be the criteria but also ability to read same stuff again n again (Basicalll ratt le).
Believe me those who are taking anthropology in a rush will get surprised

@zombielandin that attempt, you attempted all questions ? With average content? What is average content?? ,less thinkers or diagrams or case studies!! Is that what is called average?
@zombielandbang on with cramming part, realized it after 3 months, but to be very true the optional is interesting and Alas, the interested crammers can get as high as 300+, trust me this optional is going to stay for another 2-3 years... the time has not come yet.
ps - one of my friend left this optional after doing paper 1 which is like 80% of paper 2. Let the junta come in anthro i would say.
@atuljiI left questions of worth 65marks.
Average means when thinkers are not included (less number). case studies were there. but i did not address all parts in few questions. questions like non-hindu OBC+ A&N tribals were attempted haphzardly. I was not satisfied with my attempt
I was writing in paragraph format. U can see the copy of Ashima Mittal She has included many sub-headings. I was not doing that. So worked on presentation part
@zombielandif got 250+ by leaving worth 65 marks that too with writing average in the rest...we have to believe that anthropology is lottery.

@atuljiaverage does not mean poor content. it simply meant i went through traditional books n coaching notes without any value addition from my side. however people now-a-days are going beyond this. u can see the copy of anthro topper
@zombielandi too followed traditional material only (braintree, p nath, nadeem)..but completed the paper...hope i get good marks too.
Sprinkled thinkers , case studies ,diagrams here and there as well
