Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@Jharsugudabut toppers like Gaurav Agrawal come from an altogether different league.
@Dreadful,@Jharsuguda
Somebody sent me this few days back on forum:
Veeraah sambhaavitaatmaano na daivam paryupaasate
Only the timid and the weak leave things to destiny (daivam) but the strong and the self-confident never bank on destiny or luck (bhagya)
[Context: These are words of Lakshmana addressed to Rama when the latter says that neither Kaikeyee nor his father was responsible for his banishment to the forests. It was all the play of destiny ( daivam).]
I think we all should believe in this.
Manjhi ne to pahad tod diya tha,yeh to fir bhi ek exam hai.
Agar mehnat kari hai to luck saath dega..
Gaaliyan mat dena,yeh mera personal view hai.Sabka zindagi jeene ka tareeka aur life ke prati viewpoint alag alag hota hai..
Cheers and best of hardwork(not luck)...................................................................................................................
@ranahere999UPSc se koi mail aaya regarding EWS certificate ?
@GAURAVDany info on result?
@Anduinnope
@vvvikas0078212I think what you are saying is right. Mains can be done from home but interview needs a whole new perspective. Especially for a person like me who hasn't given a single interview till date, mocks are of ample importance.
Yaar my point is that every year there are around 4000 people at similar level of knowledge, preparation etc. What takes those 4000 into the holy list of 1000 is luck.
So neither hard work nor luck alone is sufficient. After a certain level of labor you do need luck to propel you to success.
Labor is the substratum n luck is the catalyst of the chemical reaction called success.
@Dreadfulloved this line, luck is the catalyst of chemical reaction of success

Thanks bro.
Ppl say half truth n dialogues about hardwork n ignore luck.
If hard work alone n no luck then g Atal Bihari Vajpayee waited 40 years to become PM but Rajeev Gandhi got it so easily. Was A B Vajpayee lazy n Rajeev the most hardworking in India that time.
In 2009 election Manmohan became PM n the ine who worked the hardest throughout his life for PM post ie Advani never became PM.
I don't want to engage in useless debate here but labour is over exaggerated n luck ignored.

Human perspective is often interesting.
@DreadfulLuck has its role but one cannot do anything about it. Just cramming about poor luck would not change ones fate. It also makes people complacent.
@abhibhai, he failed in IIT, completed B. Tech in 5 years. Then selected in IIM. Placed in one of the best MNC in Singapore. Left job, selected as IPS in very first attempt, became IAS in second. Now posted in one of the most backward area (manohar thana) in jhalawar district of rajasthan. Humble person, ready to help people, gave anecdote from his service life what makes him so satisfied in it, you should listen to it.
Agreed.

Whether Luck or Hardwork !! Some things are in our destiny and some are not. Accept it !! Sooner the better. We have only 25-30 years to live our lives. After 60, body won't be ur companion.
But we must work hard to clear exam with a spirit to make our lives comfortable and better. Human Spirit is to make life comfortable for our children and other significant others and in last help others. (Talking about lesser mortals)
