CSE 2021: Plan / Strategy / Daily Routine

Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.

This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.

No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

Guys where are you covering your CA from. I have some backlog so asking. I’ve tried a lot of things in last attempts. I just wanna know a source where I can get a topic done with in a holistic way. Daily news only adds up to multiple topics but doesn’t help cover anything full and final. Also there is just too much stuff in the news everyday which is irrelevant later for mains. Like every day editorials. I’m not a big fan of magazines either but if there is no option then that would be my last resort. (I’m specifically talking from mains perspective. )

@Faith001Well, I am more inexperienced than you on the matter, as I have written the exam only once, that too with a prelims-centric preparation. But, I am preparing for next year mains this time and am also interested in the answer to your question.
Here is what I do currently:
I found Forum articles pretty useful for this purpose. (Not 9pm brief, they post issue based articles some times for example:https://blog.forumias.com/corporates-as-bankers-bane-or-boon-for-economy/). Apart from this, civilsdaily.com also posts occasional issue based articles apart from daily news. For example:https://www.civilsdaily.com/category/burning-issues/. Apart from this, the '250 Most Probable Topics with Questions for Mains 2020' initiative by civilsdaily seems to be pretty attractive (https://www.civilsdaily.com/course/250-most-probable-topics-with-questions-for-ias-mains-2020/). I will probably enroll in 2021 version of this initiative.

I request everyone on this thread to pool their knowledge about this issue. So that we can come up with a practical and optimal solution and do not search for the answer to this question after prelims 2021 in the short gap between prelims and mains.

@IamThat Hey thanks for the inputs. I also find drishti very good to cover issues. Didn’t know about Civilsdaily 250 burning topics for mains. Sounds like a good initiative. Will check it out.

@Faith001Thanks for recommending Drishti. I checked out their daily current affairs. It seems better than forum 9pm daily brief which is directly cut paste from hindu newspaper and indian express.

Mine is simple strategy( still dng course correction). So for a month I have perfected this one. It suits me. I actually have paid subscription of CD weekly ca . So mostly there will be 10 important issues for a week - I make notes in an answer format for each issue with flowchart, diagram wherever needed(like a model answer for exam- still working on it) . 2 notebooks for gs2 &3 and writing it topic wise.  Only After a month now I'm getting a proper plan consistency actually. In addition when I read static topics I also make notes and add to it. This is my Ca & mains gs strategy.

For the backlog month ca - i have read paper but no notes so gng to follow visionias and the same patter - find mains related issues and "make 1 page note on it wholistically with internet sources" ( inaddition to cd, drishti, iasparliament is also good).

Strategy can be different for everyone - onlything is notes must be crisp relating to mains@Faith001 Hope it helps.

Thank you for your inputs. I’m looking for something similar on a weekly basis. Though I have been traditionally making notes on Evernote, I have recently switched to a notebook for 1 topic per page format. I shall check out this CD initiative as well. A lot of other insti put up weekly CA too but aren’t regular with their stuff.

The current affairs course by CD seems interesting. Could you please help me out with some information about CD course?

Is the weekly compilation notes given in the course different from the separate articles given daily? Or are they like the 'burning issues' compiled by CD sometimes? About how much pages is the weekly notes in length?

I don't think their weekly compilation is different from wat it is uploaded on website. But it's all in one weekly pdfs (40pgs) and answer writing is a good thing. If u r taking notes from it already, it may be redundant. Otherwise their habitat platform is also good.
