Hello 2021 aspirants. I thought it would be nice if we can share what we are doing and intend to do with one another here.
This could be a thread for discussing everything prep for 2021.
No one method fits all but to see the plans and progress made by fellow aspirants might help with the finer details of preparation and also keep one on track.

Hello! Since Mains result is not coming anytime sooner and 110 days to go for Prelims, it is time to start thinking about 2021 attempt. Time is very less and it is important to organize effectively to complete all the syllabus in time.
I have tried to estimate the amount of days that I am gonna give to complete a subject and revise that at least twice. This is to help me track my progress and not get lost in-between the prep. I have fixed my sources for each subject including the current affairs.
- Indian Polity- 15 Days
- Ancient and Medieval Indian History- 10 Days
- Indian Art and Culture- 10 Days
- Modern Indian History- 10 Days
- Indian Geography- 10 Days
- Current Affairs- 20 Days
- Indian Economy- 15 Days
- Environment- 15 Days
- CSAT- Doing 1 hour of practice everyday whenever I get bored.
I have given 5 days of buffer to account for any unexpected events which are bound to occur. I am starting with Polity today.
Targets for Today
- Newspaper Reading (The Hindu+Indian Express editorials only)- 1.5 hours
- Indian Polity- Part V, VI and VII (1st reading)- 3.5 hours (14 Days left)
- History Optional- World history- Chapter 3 of Jain and Mathur book- 2 Hours
- CSAT- 1 hour
Till a few months back, I too used to think that 7 hours should be sufficient.
But, this is my second attempt, and prelims is really close. There's a lot to be done. I am preparing for the exam full time (no job), I think the preparation deserves at least 10 hours of my time.
Today's targets:-
- Read Newspaper- 1.5 hours
- Indian Polity by Laxmikanth- Part II (First Reading)- 2.5 hours (13 Days left)
- History Optional- World History- Chapter 5 (half) of Jain and Mathur book- 2 hours
- CSAT- 1 hour
Yesterday was a great start. I was able to finish my targets without any hassle. Hoping to continue that today.
Today's Target:-
- Newspaper (1.5 hours)
- Indian Polity- Part I (First Reading)- 2.5 hours (12 Days Left)
- History Optional- Complete the 5th chapter of Jain and Mathur- 2.5 hours
- CSAT- 1 hour
Yesterday, I realized that the chapter on Center-State relations is the most frustrating chapter to read from Laxmikanth despite reading it so many times.
Today's target:-
- Newspaper (1 hour)- Sunday is a very relaxed day with regards to the Newspaper
- Polity- Rest of the chapters (First Reading) (9 Days left)- So this brings the first reading of Laxmikanth to a close now. I am planning to revise it twice before the examination. First revision somewhere in May for 5 Days and the last revision just 2 weeks before Prelims for 4 days.
- History Optional- Revise Chapter 3 and 5 from Jain and Mathur Book- (3 hours)
- CSAT- 1 hour
Yesterday, a good day for study. I am trying to maintain a healthy 6-7 hours of study routine for next one week.
Today's target:-
- Newspaper (1.5 hours)
- Geography- Chapter 1-7 from GC Leong (First Reading) (9 Days left)- I have decided to follow GC Leong and some selected chapters from Indian geography book of Khullar+ Atlas. I had not touched Geography previous time. Luckily, it did not harm my prospects. But this time I want to do it right.
- History Optional- Chapter 9 from World History Jain and Mathur Book
Yesterday, I did not have to study for long. Took 6 hours compared to the planned 7 hours. I was able to watch the T20 match. Great win.
