CSE 2022: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

This is an everything thread for all stuff 2022. You can post your daily goals, end-of-the-day updates, weekly targets or any weird thing you use to measure your progress. You can put into words & post the soul-sucking sadness that is threatening to devour you & your productivity. You can write what made your day & let others experience the happiness too, at least vicariously. This is a thread to pick each other up. This is a thread to keep each other accountable. This is a no-judgement zone.

--------

“This is one more piece of advice I have for you: don't get impatient. Even if things are so tangled up you can't do anything, don't get desperate or blow a fuse and start yanking on one particular thread before it's ready to come undone. You have to realize it's going to be a long process and that you'll work on things slowly, one at a time.”

Hi Archand, Even i am having Maths optional.
Altho i competed 1 round of syllabus (approx 11 topics ) before, I didn't touch for last 4-5 months due to prelims prep & time crunch.
Now it's taking me around 4 days for linear algebra only !
How are you able to complete calculus in a day or two, kindly share some tips for finishing maths quickly ! Just want to know how to finish maths

fast.

Hi.

First of all I have a tendency to overestimate my capacity to fulfill targets and hence I will often take more time than I've allotted thereby revising my targets accordingly. This keeps me on my toes and it can be different for you, so don't worry about it :)

However, a few pointers:

  • Making short notes out of IMS notes/books
  • Repeated revisions reduce time
  • Analysis of PYQs and test series to see what's relevant and what is not
(as an illustration, UPSC very rarely asks derivations in linear algebra from non matrix portion, so we need to give it time accordingly)

That being said, I am not sure how much of it is possible between prelims and mains. Try to reduce 4 to 3 but even if that doesn't happen, I think more than the speed it is subject competence that matters. We cannot afford to miss out on easier topics.

Fellow maths aspirants@Celeborn @ThePhenom can give more insights.

All the best :D

Thanks a lot Archand !
My main focus this time is to complete 2 revisions (1 from IMS & next from topper S.N)
Do all PYQs from 2011-2021 twice (once thoro & once revise) + IMS test series -- All these of only 10 topics
Then for Modern, Fluids, statics - will do only pyqs thrice.
Hoping i would be able to do all this :)

This looks like a good strategy to me. PYQs should cover most of the relevant concepts. I'm sure it will work out well :)
