Namaskaram,

Since I’m wearing a mask. Here is the truth. I have wasted a crazy amount of time, to be precise it’s 4 years (2017-21). Never studied more than a week till now.

Year 2017(half a book completed) , year 2018 skipped thinking I will begin fresh for 2019 as I wasted time, didn’t study that year as well but still gave attempt paper1-28 paper 2-20, skipped 2020 as I again wasted time, today 20/05/21 I haven’t studied a single book for the exam.

Not knowing the ‘why?’ of Exam preparation.

Being dishonest to myself and people around.

Staying in my comfort, laziness, binge watching, doomsday scrolling on various platforms was so addictive I didn’t come out of it.

As J Cole said “these past 5 years, it has been a fight against comfort”

Will I clear the exam or not (roughly140 days left)but anything that I do from now, takes me to the positive side (-2,-1,0,+1,+2)

Pranam

Take a week off Screens. I mean all screens. You will most probably sleep for most of the time in the initial days. But after a while when you cannot sleep more, you will be confronted with your thoughts, that's where it will start. You will yourself figure out what you want to do, what were you doing wrong et cetera.

The greatest tragedy of being overconnected is that we talk with everyone but ourselves, and hence are perenially lost. This results in a loss of Identity and we become conformists, a herd if you will.

We become like dry leaves going wherever the wind takes us instead of becoming a seed, standing our ground and transforming into something beautiful.

@hahaHeisenberg please first clear your mind and understand your goals and priorities.

4 years seems a lot for someone to not study at all. Maybe you are not motivated at all ( or fear the exam?). Please get to the exact reason of why you've done what you've done.

There's a life outside this exam too, you might feel a lot more fresh over there.

Something related to this which can be helpful. I personally felt the same and then I came across this=>

I Know its a wrong topic to post in this thread ...I am sorry  for this but seriously need some help :

Hello all,

My friend is visually impaired and wants to start his preparation for UPSC, he wants to take anthropology as an optional.Kindly tell me a good source for this subject for which he can attend the online lectures and prepare (He is working in a bank so he cannot join offline classes).

Not my optional, but I asked a couple of people and they recommended Sosin ma'am. They said she teaches well and her notes are good. I looked up her website and some notes seem to be available there in typed PDF format (would be accessible to your friend in case he uses a screen reader program). There seems to be an online classes batch starting on 9th June.

Anthro peeps of Forum can help much better.

All the best to you and your friend :D

All queries of your friend can be resolved at a telegram group @teamanthro

https://t.me/Anthropology_optional.

Usually Anthro toppers and aspirants prefer self study. I dont know much about coaching. But there are many institutes like Sosin, vishnu, l2a, lakshmaiah etc.

Anudeep durishetty, lakshmi n, koyasreeharsha blogs are a good place to start/read anthro.

Cricket is a subject on which almost everyone in India has an opinion. So let's talk cricket!

Next month we have World Test Championship final. I have lost count of how many finals and semi finals we have lost in last 5-6 years which we should have easily won, given our form. In every tournament we play the league stages like a boss then suddenly we play our worst cricket in finals. This has become sort of routine now, 6 years and multiple finals cannot be a coincidence.

This time also I am having the same old feeling. My heart says we should win easily but mind is not convinced.

Forum ki junta ko kya lagta hai? Kya finally hum koi final jeetenge ya ek bar fir humara dil tootega?

Feel free to share any of your observations.

Don't know why cricket experts not call it "choking".

All the time it happens with suddenness, except may be T20WC final with SL where their bowling was too good in death overs.

Then 2015 WC the opening was going good, suddenly Shikhar Dhawan got out and no one was there to stabilize the innings

2016 T20 WC and Champions trophy are blamed on "no balls", which is partially true.

2019 WC was also there was just chaos, random team selections, random batting order, bit of luck in terms of weather and day got shifted.

But I feel this is just the trend in overall SPORTS scene in India. Before Olympics so many promising faces give hope and somehow can't perform. 2012 and 2016 - there were many players on top of their games but missed podium.

Is it somehow to do with upbringing of Indians or something else?

Coming to WTC final- I feel it is Advantage NZ - first as they are playing series prior to the final, plus they are more suitable for conditions. Kane Williamson, if there is player to play for someone's life (currently), is the person. Trent boult those in-swinging balls will surely trouble Rohit and Virat. Gill is low on confidence now.  Also memories of recent outings with NZ too aren't helping.

but........

The way India as a team played in AUS was surreal, it gave us hope. Players like Rishabh Pant we can rely to take game away from opposition. plus Sir Jadeja and R Ashwin (hope they both play in 11) as batsman are providing confidence.

Much of it will depend upon TOSS. Hope this time Kohli win the toss.

As a cricket fan I just want to see a competitive game, not one sided.

Regarding your broader question on upbringing of Indians.. Well, having myself played professional athletics at national level I can tell you that lack of exposure, infrastructure and politics in selection are BIG problems.  But these cricket guys cannot complain of that I guess. They have got the best support system.

Regarding current situation bhai mujhe toh lagta hai ye kohli hi panaunti hai. He should just quit captaincy from all forms and just focus on batting. The problem in Indian cricket is no one has the balls to tell him directly on his face that dude, you are doing a great disservice to the nation. Like sachin in 1998-99 he should quit captaincy and just focus on batting. His unnecessary ego is hurting India.

Regarding match conditions, completely agree with you. Williamson and Boult are the men to beat.

It was about emotional aspect, baaki to infra, support I agree. Eg. PV Sindhu despite being ahead in the game somehow lost in 2016 Olympics final.

The Kohli thing I don't know. May be he has the same problem as talked about Sachin that he used to expect same things he was capable to do and we know it wasn't possible. The atmosphere is surely bit negative in his captaincy contrary to  Rahane's. But  in test we don't have options either, Rahane isn't reliable as batsman. But surely I would love to see Rohit doing captaincy in 2022 T20 WC then in 2023 WC.

But I don't see that coming, he can't/won't quit captaincy may be because of "BRAND". As Indian Captain is more heavy word than Indian player. Otherwise RCB deserves different captain after all these years of failure.
